Four Swords Adventures

Ganon has obtained the Dark Trident and stolen the four Royal Jewels. Link is split into 4 by the Four Sword — all 4 must cooperate to collect Force Gems, complete 7 worlds, and face Vaati and Ganon. Originally required GBA link cables for multiplayer; single-player controls all 4 Links in sequence.

Core Mechanics

Totem Stack — All 4 Links stack vertically. Top Link attacks at height, reaches elevated targets, and can be launched from the bottom Link like a projectile. Required for many puzzle solutions and boss fights.

Force Gems — Collected throughout each world. Each stage has a hidden Force Gem threshold — collect enough for an A-rank. Shadow Links steal Force Gems on contact. The total Force Gems determine if the secret 7th world (Four Sword Palace) unlocks.

Shadow Links — Appear in every world. They mirror one player's exact movements and steal Force Gems on contact. Identify which Link is being mirrored and surround the Shadow Link with the other three for an ambush.

All 7 Worlds

World 1

Hyrule Field

3 stages

Tutorial world. Learn Totem stacking (stack all 4 Links for tall structures) and Force Gem collection basics.

Boss — Big Manhandla: Big Manhandla has 5 heads on extendable necks. Use bombs to stagger the heads and slash each one. When 3 heads are gone, she charges across the room — avoid the extended necks and hit the main body from behind.

World 2

Lake Hylia

3 stages

Introduces water navigation and ice mechanics. Bombs reveal hidden Force Gem caches under ice sheets.

Boss — Big Moldorm: Big Moldorm's tail glows when vulnerable. Position all 4 Links to attack simultaneously — the tail can only be struck from behind during the vulnerability window. When Moldorm thrashes after a hit, all Links must dodge outward from the center.

World 3

Death Mountain

3 stages

Vertical climbing with bomb puzzles. Rolling boulders must be bombed before they crush Links below.

Boss — Big Dodongo: Big Dodongo must be fed bombs — throw them into the open mouth with all 4 Links throwing simultaneously for maximum damage efficiency. After 2 bombs, he spins — center all Links in the room to minimize exposure. 3 bomb cycles.

World 4

Kakariko Village

3 stages

Introduces Shadow Links. These doppelgangers steal Force Gems — prioritize killing them over enemy mobs.

Boss — Big Dark Stalfos: Dark Stalfos teleports around the arena and throws energy blades. Use the Totem formation to attack from above when he materializes. He's immune to ground-level attacks in phase 2 — stack all 4 Links and attack from the height of the top Link.

World 5

Hyrule Castle

3 stages

Dark maze with Phantom patrols. Avoid detection or lose Force Gems to Phantom confiscation.

Boss — Phantom Ganon: Phantom Ganon fires energy balls in patterns. Unlike the original game, all 4 Links must reflect balls simultaneously to stagger him. Spread the Links around the arena in a diamond formation to ensure full coverage of ball trajectories.

World 6

Tower of Winds

3 stages

Final gauntlet requiring all Four Sword skills. Wind currents push Links — time movement between gusts.

Boss — Vaati (3 phases): Vaati Phase 1: Split into 4 Links around him and attack simultaneously — lone attackers are deflected. Phase 2: He creates 4 elemental orbs (fire/ice/thunder/shadow) — each Link must attack the orb of matching color assigned by position. Phase 3: Use the Four Sword's combined power charge (all 4 Links hold attack simultaneously) to deal the final blow.

World 7

Four Sword Palace (Bonus)

3 stages

Unlocks after collecting enough Force Gems across all 6 worlds. Contains the game's hardest puzzles and fights.

Boss — Shadow Link + Vaati Final: Shadow Link perfectly mirrors one player's movements. Designate one Link as decoy and the other three as attackers — the decoy draws Shadow Link's attention while the others strike. Vaati Final is identical to Tower of Winds Phase 3 but with a tighter time window for the combined charge attack.
