Link's Awakening
Shipwrecked on Koholint Island, Link must collect 8 Instruments of the Sirens from 8 dungeons to wake the Wind Fish and escape. But the island and all its inhabitants exist only in the Wind Fish's dream — waking it means erasing everything.
All 8 Dungeons
Each dungeon rewards an Instrument of the Sirens. Collect all 8 to wake the Wind Fish.
Tail Cave
📍 Toronbo Shores — enter via hidden cave on south beach
Boss — Moldorm: Moldorm is a worm that moves in figure-8 patterns. Its tail is the weak point — hit it 4 times. When hit, it speeds up and changes direction erratically. Stay near the tail and avoid the body.
Bottle Grotto
📍 Goponga Swamp — requires Roc's Feather to navigate lily pads
Boss — Genie: Genie hides in a bottle. When the bottle appears, grab it with the Power Bracelet and smash it 3 times against walls. After the bottle shatters, hit Genie directly 3 more times while dodging his fireballs.
Key Cavern
📍 Ukuku Prairie — push tombstones to reveal the staircase entrance
Boss — Slime Eyes: Slime Eyes appears as two separate eye slimes fused together. Use Pegasus Boots to dash-attack and split them apart. Then attack each separate eye individually. Each eye takes 4 hits. Watch for jumping patterns.
Angler's Tunnel
📍 Tal Tal Heights — requires Flippers, enter the lake
Boss — Angler Fish: Angler Fish swims in the water beneath platforms. Use the hookshot or bombs when it surfaces. Avoid the lure it dangles — it stuns Link. Hit the body 6 times. Arrows are effective if you have them.
Catfish's Maw
📍 Martha's Bay — southeast underwater entrance requires Flippers
Boss — Slime Eel: Slime Eel burrows through the walls. Use the hookshot to grab it when it pokes its head out, then slash rapidly. It retreats into the wall periodically. The tail can damage you — watch both ends.
Face Shrine
📍 Ukuku Prairie east — use Level 2 Power Bracelet to open the entrance
Boss — Facade: Facade is a face embedded in the floor — it's invincible except when tiles break and expose its true form. Bomb the holes that appear. Facade spawns Spark enemies to distract you — ignore them and focus on bombing holes.
Eagle's Tower
📍 Tal Tal Mountain Range — use Mirror Shield + Ball and Chain to clear the way
Boss — Evil Eagle: Evil Eagle attacks in 3 phases: fly-by claw swipes, diving rush attacks, and feather projectile volleys. Hit its head with sword or arrows. Phase 3 is most dangerous — use the Mirror Shield to deflect feathers while counter-attacking.
Turtle Rock
📍 Eastern Tal Tal — requires Magic Rod, enter via cracked wall
Boss — Hot Head: Hot Head is a floating fire creature. Hit it with Ice Arrows or the Magic Rod (charges power shot on contact). It splits into smaller heads that bounce around the room. Hit each small head or use Magic Rod sweeps to clear multiple at once.
The Trading Sequence
A 13-step item trade chain that culminates in the Magnifying Lens. The Lens reveals hidden dungeon entrances, the Seashell Mansion, and other secrets. It is required to complete the game 100%.
