Description

A colossal frog-like predator that lurks in the murkier corridors of the Depths, camouflaging itself in the dark until disturbed. Zonaite ore clusters grow across its back, making every Frox fight a combined boss encounter and mining expedition. Stun it by striking its exposed eye, then climb its back to harvest the ore deposits and attack for bonus damage.

Weakness

Frox's primary weakness is Eye on forehead — stun with arrow, then mine ore on back.

How to Beat Frox

1. Froxes are massive frog-like creatures unique to the Depths.
2. They serve as both boss encounters and mining opportunities, as their backs are covered in Zonaite ore deposits.
3. Preparation: Bring Brightbloom Seeds for visibility in the Depths, a bow with arrows, Bomb Flowers (extremely useful for this fight), and a strong melee weapon.
4. A hammer weapon is ideal for mining the ore deposits on the Frox's back.
5. Phase 1 — Stunning the Frox: The Frox has a single eye on its forehead that is its primary weak point.
6. Shoot the eye with an arrow to stun the Frox momentarily.
7. This causes it to lower its head and become vulnerable.
8. Alternatively — and more effectively — wait for the Frox to open its mouth wide to inhale (it does this to try to suck Link in).
9. During this inhale animation, throw a Bomb Flower into its mouth.
10. The explosion stuns the Frox for a much longer duration than an eye shot, giving you ample time to climb onto its back.
11. Phase 2 — Mining and Damage: While the Frox is stunned, climb onto its back and strike the Zonaite ore deposits with your weapon.
12. Hammer weapons deal bonus damage to the ore.
13. Each ore deposit hit damages the Frox AND drops Zonaite materials.
14. This is the primary way to damage the Frox while also farming resources simultaneously.
15. You can get roughly six to eight hits during a bomb stun or three to four during an eye shot stun.
16. Phase 3 — Head Attack: After mining the back, you can also attack the stunned eye directly for pure damage without resource drops.
17. This is faster for killing the Frox but less profitable.
18. The Frox attacks by slamming its body down on Link, lashing with its tongue to grab and throw you, charging forward, and the aforementioned inhale attack.
19. The body slam is dodged by sprinting sideways, the tongue by maintaining distance, and the charge by sidestepping.
20. The inhale is your best friend — it is a free Bomb Flower stun every time.
21. Three bomb stun cycles should defeat a standard Frox while netting you significant Zonaite.
