Description

Frox are the dominant mini-boss encounter of the Depths and the most important Zonaite farming target in TotK. Their Large Zonaite drops fund the Crystal Refinery battery upgrade system — each Frox kill contributes meaningfully to expanding Link's energy cell capacity. The Brightbloom Seed mouth-stun is the definitive Frox engagement strategy, offering a wide 8-second window for maximum burst damage. Frox respawn after Blood Moon, making them a renewable farm. Efficient Depths farmers clear all regional Frox in a single sweep before fast-traveling to the next region.

Weakness

Eye-nodes on back — three glowing bumps. Throw a Brightbloom Seed into its open mouth during the inhale animation for an extended 8-second stun. Bomb arrows fired at the eye-nodes during any stun deal massive damage.

How to Beat Frox (Depths Farming)

Frox are the primary Zonaite farming target in the Depths — each kill yields 2-4 standard Zonaite plus a 50% chance at Large Zonaite for battery upgrades. Efficient route: map the Frox spawn locations in each Depths region, clear them in a circuit during a single session. The Brightbloom Seed mouth-stun triggers on any thrown item entering the open-mouth inhale animation — not just Brightbloom. Bomb Flowers work as a detonating alternative that deals damage inside the mouth. On the ground phase, target the three eye-nodes on its back with melee for full damage.
