Best Bow Fuse Combinations Guide — All Arrow Types & Damage in TotK
Best Bow Fuse Combinations Guide
Fusing materials to arrows transforms the bow from a utility tool into Link's most versatile weapon. The right arrow fuse combination can one-shot Lynels, stun Gloom Hands, clear enemy camps in seconds, and provide elemental control in every environment.
How Arrow Fuse Works
Hold ZR to aim, then press Up on the D-pad while aimed to open the material wheel. Select a material and release to fuse it to the next arrow. The fused arrow fires with the material's effect applied.
Key rules:
- You can only see the fused arrow effect in your HUD after selecting
- Some materials (elemental fruits) don't display damage but apply their effect
- Monster parts attached to arrows add damage bonus AND their special effect
- Ancient materials (Dragon parts) add maximum damage + special bonuses
Tier 1 — Maximum Damage Fuses
Dragon Part Arrows (Highest Damage)
Dragon parts are the best fuse materials in the game. Each type provides different effects:
| Material | Source | Arrow Bonus | Special Effect | |---------|--------|-------------|----------------| | Light Dragon Scale | Light Dragon (Zelda) | +50 damage | Light burst on impact | | Light Dragon Talon | Light Dragon | +60 damage | Pierces multiple enemies | | Light Dragon Horn Shard | Light Dragon | +45 damage | Penetrates block 1x | | Farosh's Scale | Farosh (green lightning dragon) | +20 damage | Electric burst on impact | | Dinraal's Scale | Dinraal (red fire dragon) | +20 damage | Fire burst on impact | | Naydra's Scale | Naydra (blue ice dragon) | +20 damage | Ice burst on impact |
How to farm Dragon parts: Dragons fly fixed routes above Hyrule. Shoot the glowing weak points (horns = horn shard, talons = claw, scale = body glow). Parts drop 1 per hit; the dragon doesn't take damage or become hostile.
Best combination: Light Dragon Talon on a Savage Lynel Bow (3 shots) = 180+ damage per arrow release. The penetration effect means all three simultaneous arrows can hit the same target for triple application.
Lynel Parts (Second Best Damage)
| Material | Drop Source | Arrow Bonus | |---------|------------|-------------| | Lynel Guts | Lynel (any type) | +30 damage + fire burst | | Silver Lynel Guts | Silver Lynel only | +40 damage + fire burst | | Lynel Hoof | Lynel | +25 damage + fire | | Lynel Horn | Lynel | +20 damage |
Use case: Lynel Guts arrows are the best farming-tier option — Lynel camps respawn after Blood Moon, giving reliable supply. Use on Silver enemies and bosses.
Tier 2 — Elemental Fuses
Fire Arrows
Best options:
- Smotherwing Butterfly + Arrow: Strong fire burst, medium area
- Fire Fruit + Arrow: Standard fire arrow (the baseline)
- Flame Emitter fragment (rare): Maximum fire area, rare drop
When to use fire arrows:
- Ice Keese and Ice Wizzrobes
- Frozen enemies (thaws and deals bonus damage)
- Bomb Flowers in the environment (remote detonation)
- Grass/wood destruction for Korok seeds or chest clearing
Strongest fire combo: Smotherwing Butterfly on a triple-shot bow = 3 simultaneous fire bursts covering a 5-meter area. Destroys most enemy groups in one shot.
Ice Arrows
Best options:
- Ice Fruit (White Chuchu Jelly) + Arrow: Standard freeze
- Cold Darner + Arrow: Freeze + cold damage aura
- Frozen Meat + Arrow: Freeze effect only
When to use ice arrows:
- Fire Lizalfos and Fire Wizzrobes
- Freezing Lynels (3-4 seconds of free melee attacks)
- Stopping moving platforms or objects temporarily
- Gerudo Desert combat (cold vs. heat-armored enemies)
Lynel freeze technique: Shoot a Lynel with a Cold Darner arrow directly to its face. It freezes for 3 seconds — immediately mount it (ZL sprint + A on its head) for guaranteed free hits without any weapon durability loss from combat.
Electric Arrows
Best options:
- Electric Darner + Arrow: Standard shock
- Yellow Chuchu Jelly + Arrow: Strong shock area
- Zapshroom + Arrow: Shock burst (smaller area)
- Farosh's Scale + Arrow: Powerful electric burst
When to use electric arrows:
- Metal-wearing Bokoblins (stuns, destroys shields)
- Construct enemies (electric affinity makes them vulnerable)
- Water environments (electric arrow in water shocks all nearby enemies)
- Disabling Gloom Hands temporarily
Metal shield exploit: Shoot an electric arrow at a Bokoblin carrying a metal shield. The shield conducts electricity to the enemy and everyone nearby. Against a camp with 5 shield-carriers, one electric arrow can paralyze the entire group.
Bomb Arrows (Explosive)
Best options:
- Bomb Flower + Arrow: Standard explosion
- Puffshroom + Arrow: Smoke cloud on impact (obscures vision)
- Dazzlefruit + Arrow: Flash bang effect
When to use bomb arrows:
- Groups of enemies clustered together
- Destroying enemy camp structures (watchtowers, tents)
- Rock walls and ore deposits from a distance
- Aerial enemies (the explosion area catches nearby targets)
Warning: Bomb arrows detonate in your quiver if you're hit by fire or explosion while equipped. Always un-fuse before entering fire areas.
Tier 3 — Utility Fuses
Brightbloom Seeds
Effect: Lights up the impact area for 2-3 minutes. Use: Exploring the Depths. Shoot Brightbloom Seeds at walls and ceilings ahead of you for rapid Depths navigation.
Muddle Buds
Effect: Confuses the target — it attacks nearby enemies instead of Link. Best use: Fire into a large enemy group. The confused enemy turns on its allies, dealing damage without any cost to Link.
Combo: Use on the strongest enemy in a group. A Silver Bokoblin given a Muddle Bud arrow will destroy its Blue and Black allies before the confusion wears off.
Puffshrooms
Effect: Creates a large smoke cloud on impact. Use: Tactical retreats, interrupting boss attacks, or obscuring enemy sight lines during stealth.
Dazzlefruits
Effect: Flash-bang on impact. Use: Stunning all nearby enemies (including Lynels) for 3-5 seconds. Cheaper than Muddle Buds for group situations where you just need a window to deal damage.
Best Bows for Fuse Combos
The bow itself determines how many arrows fire per shot and base range:
| Bow | Shot Type | Best Fuse Combo | |-----|---------|-----------------| | Savage Lynel Bow | 3 simultaneous arrows | Dragon Talons (triple hit same target) | | Duplex Bow | 2 simultaneous arrows | Electric/Ice for area coverage | | Zonaite Bow | Single, zoom scope | Precision Dragon Horns for distant targets | | Great Eagle Bow | High attack, single | Lynel Guts for balanced damage | | Forest Dweller Bow | No bonus, basic | Fire/Ice elemental basics |
Best in slot: Savage Lynel Bow + Light Dragon Talon is the maximum damage combination available in the game.
Arrow Conservation
Running out of arrows mid-game is common. Conservation strategies:
- Spare arrows at stables — Beedle at every stable sells arrows (20 standard = 40 Rupees)
- Bokoblin Arrow drops — Black and Silver Bokoblins reliably drop 10-20 arrows on death
- Treasure chests — Many contain Arrow Bundles (5-20 arrows)
- Dispenser rooms — Ancient Shrines often have arrow chests near the entrance
- Dig in sand — Some buried arrows in Gerudo Desert
- Akkala Tech Lab — Buys recipes; sells Arrow Bundles as a vendor after questline
Priority: Never fuse Dragon parts to arrows unless you have 50+ reserves. Use Lynel Guts and elemental fruits for daily combat; save Dragon parts for bosses and Lynels.
Summary — Fuse Matchup Chart
