Faron Region Guide — Lanaryu Rainforest, Zora Armor & South Hyrule
Faron Region Guide — South Hyrule's Lush Frontier
Faron is the lush, rainy south — Lake Hylia, the Floria River, Lurelin Village, and some of the densest Korok Seed concentrations in the game. Less enemy-heavy than other late-game regions, Faron rewards exploration with secrets in trees, on clifftops, and beneath the water surface. This guide covers the full Faron circuit.
Getting to Faron
Primary routes:
- From Hyrule Field: South road past Lake Hylia Bridge → into Faron
- From Necluda: West and south from Hateno/Kakariko through East Necluda → into the Faron Hills
- From Lurelin Village: Southeast approach — remote but direct if you've fast traveled to a nearby shrine
Shrine coverage: Moderate — activate every shrine in Faron early since the region is large and spread out. The Lake Hylia area shrine is the most central fast travel point.
Lake Hylia
Location: Central-west Faron — massive lake in south Hyrule
Lake Hylia is TotK's largest open water body and a key Faron landmark:
Lake Hylia Bridge
- The bridge crossing the lake's north end connects Central Hyrule to Faron
- Korok Seeds: Multiple seeds on the bridge (acorns hanging from the bridge underside, flower trails across the deck)
- Sky view: The bridge is an excellent paraglider launch — jump off and glide south over the lake to survey the region
Lake Hylia Depths Access
- Multiple wells near the lake connect to the underground
- The lake itself has diving spots — dive for underwater chests (use Zora Armor or swim upward for speed)
- Bubbulfrogs: Two frog locations in the cave systems under the lake's eastern shore
Korok Seed Density
Lake Hylia's shores have one of the highest Korok densities in Faron:
- Pinwheel Koroks on rocky outcrops along the shore
- Offering stone Koroks at small shrines around the perimeter
- Balloon Koroks rising from the water surface (shoot with arrow)
Floria River and Floria Waterfall
Location: Southeast Faron — major river running south from Lake Hylia to the Floria Falls
The Floria River is a beautiful area with good exploration rewards:
Floria Waterfall
- Large cascading waterfall on the Faron coast
- Zora Armor interaction: With the Zora Chest Piece equipped, you can swim UP the waterfall — standard Zora mechanic
- Korok Seed above the falls: Reach the clifftop above the falls → find a leaf pile Korok (throw a rock)
- Cave behind the falls: Standard hidden-cave-behind-waterfall — contains ore deposits + Bubbulfrog
River Exploration
- Multiple Koroks along the river banks (flower trail, balloon types)
- Cave entrances on the east side of the river — each has 2-3 ore nodes
- Lizalfos camps in the shallow river sections — Silver Lizalfos at normal difficulty
Lurelin Village
Location: Far south Faron — coastal fishing village
Lurelin Village from BotW has been raided and damaged by Bokoblins in TotK. Rebuilding it is a side quest chain:
Lurelin Village Restoration Project
Quest start: Speak with the displaced Lurelin villagers (found north of the village on the beach)
Rebuilding chain:
- Clear the Bokoblin camp occupying the village
- Retrieve specific materials for repairs
- Find and return displaced villagers scattered nearby
- Successive building phases restore the village
Rewards:
- Each phase: Rupees + cooking ingredients
- Full completion: Unique Faron item + permanent inn access in Lurelin
- Lurelin becomes a functioning fishing village with a vendor and cooking pot
Lurelin Fishing
The restored Lurelin Village has a small bay:
- Catching fish (Hyrule Bass, Hearty Bass) — high-value cooking ingredients
- Underwater chests in the bay accessible by diving
- Korok Seed under a rock on the beach pier
Faron Grasslands
The central Faron area has wide open grasslands:
Korok Seed Circuit
Faron Grasslands is one of TotK's best Korok Seed zones:
- Tree acorns: Dozens of trees with acorns hanging from branches — shoot them all
- Flower trails: Start at a lone flower and follow the disappearing path
- Rock lifting: Small rocks hiding Koroks scattered across the flat grassland areas
Horriblin Caves (Faron Cliffs)
The Faron cliffs and canyons east of the grasslands have Horriblin-occupied caves:
- Mid-tier Horriblin (Blue/Black type) — drops Horriblin Horns and Guts
- Cave chests: usually mid-tier bows or shields
- One larger cave has a Like Like enemy (swallows shields — fight carefully)
Faron Sky Islands
Sky fragments from the Upheaval hang over south Faron:
Eventide Island (Sky Reference)
- The ground-level Eventide Island from BotW is still here
- A sky fragment hovers above it — requires updraft or launch to reach
- Chest on the sky fragment: Zonai device supply
- Bubbulfrog in the cave on the ground-level Eventide area
Faron Sky Tower
- The Faron Skyview Tower is in south Faron — activate it early for map reveal
- From the tower top, glide to the nearest sky island east
- Multiple Zonai Constructs on the sky islands above Faron
Dragon Presence — Farosh
Farosh (Lightning Dragon) has one of its regular circuit routes over Faron:
- Farosh appears at dawn/dusk flying over the Faron region (Lake Hylia approach)
- Spawn point: Floria area in the early morning → flies north toward Hyrule Field
- Farm location: Wait at Lake Hylia Bridge at dawn — Farosh passes overhead consistently
Farosh drops:
- Farosh's Scale (ride the dragon, touch its body)
- Farosh's Claw (hit the claws)
- Farosh's Horn (hit the horn — most valuable)
- Farosh's Shard of Light (hit the horn tip specifically)
See Dragons Guide for full Farosh farming detail.
Faron Wells
Faron villages and settlements have wells:
- Near Lurelin Village: Ore deposit + Korok Seed (after village restoration)
- Faron Grasslands isolated well: Deep well with a mini-dungeon at the bottom (ladder maze) — mid-tier weapon chest
- Lake Hylia shore well: Connects to an underground passage — Bubbulfrog inside
Quick Tips
- Faron = Korok paradise — if you're doing a Korok Seed grind, Faron grasslands + Lake Hylia shores should be on your route. One of the highest density zones outside of Korok Forest.
- Lurelin Village early — clearing the Bokoblin camp is doable at any level. Starting the restoration chain early means the village is usable sooner.
- Farosh dawn at Lake Hylia — consistent spawn point for lightning dragon parts. Camp at the bridge and wait.
- Zora Armor for Floria Falls — the waterfall swim is the most efficient way to reach the clifftop above the falls and its secrets.
- Faron is low-pressure — fewer dangerous enemies than Eldin or Akkala. Good for a relaxed exploration loop when you want to farm Koroks and open caves without combat stress.
