Farosh Guide — How to Farm Farosh Dragon Parts in TotK
Farosh — The Lightning Dragon
Farosh is the Lightning Dragon of Hyrule, circling the southern skies over the Faron region, Lake Hylia, and Necluda. One of the three Spirit Dragons alongside Naydra and Dinraal, Farosh's lightning-element parts are required for Rubber Armor upgrades and create powerful shock-fused weapons. Unlike Dinraal and Naydra, Farosh's body generates lightning — standing near it without shock resistance causes Farosh to zap Link.
Farosh Overview
| Attribute | Value | |-----------|-------| | Element | Lightning | | Flight Path | Faron Grasslands → Lake Hylia → Necluda → loops | | Altitude | Low-to-mid (most accessible of the three dragons) | | Respawn | Once per in-game day (or Blood Moon) | | Drops per visit | 1 part per body part hit |
Farosh's Flight Path
Farosh circuits southern Hyrule at a lower altitude than Dinraal and Naydra, making it the most accessible Spirit Dragon:
- Lake Hylia — Farosh frequently dips to near lake level, skimming the water surface
- Faron Grasslands — primary open-air leg of the circuit
- Necluda — southeast leg over the eastern hills
- Floria River area — descends near the river in Faron before turning back
Best intercept locations:
| Location | Method | |----------|--------| | Lake Hylia Bridge | Stand on the bridge — Farosh sometimes passes at bridge level | | Faron Tower | Launch from the Skyview Tower and glide to Farosh's path | | Mount Taran | High point in Faron for aerial intercept | | Popla Foothills | Open terrain with good sightlines for tracking |
Easiest dragon to reach — Farosh's low-altitude Lake Hylia pass makes it accessible without sky islands or major mountain climbing.
Lightning Warning
Farosh's body generates continuous electrical discharge. Rubber Armor (full set) provides complete shock immunity. Without it:
- 1 piece of Rubber Armor: reduced shock damage
- No Rubber Armor: Farosh's body zaps Link every few seconds, and the discharge can electrify your metal weapons (causing Link to drop them mid-harvest)
Best solution: Full Rubber Armor set before farming Farosh. The Rubber Armor is sold in Tarrey Town (after completing Hudson's questline) or found in chest rewards.
How to Harvest Dragon Parts
Getting on Farosh
Farosh's low-altitude circuit makes boarding easier than the other dragons:
- Lake Hylia bridge or Faron hillsides — wait at elevation and glide directly onto Farosh as it passes
- Faron Skyview Tower launch — get maximum altitude and intercept Farosh mid-circuit
- Horse sprint into glide — on flat Faron terrain, sprint toward Farosh as it passes low and glide the remaining distance
Body Part Drops
| Body Part | Drop | |-----------|------| | Scales (body) | Farosh's Scale | | Claws (feet) | Farosh's Claw | | Fang (mouth) | Shard of Farosh's Fang | | Horn (head) | Shard of Farosh's Horn |
Shoot the glowing spot on the target body part with a single arrow. The material dislodges as a floating item — collect it before it descends into terrain.

Efficient Farosh Farming
Best Daily Loop
- Set up camp at Lake Hylia shore (a campfire near the Bridge of Hylia is ideal)
- Skip to morning at the campfire to reset the day
- Wait on or near the bridge — Farosh frequently passes at bridge level on morning circuits
- Harvest the desired part with one arrow
- Skip to night at the campfire
- Wait for Farosh's night pass and harvest a different part
- Repeat to collect all 4 parts in 2–4 in-game days
Why Farosh Is the Best Dragon to Farm
- Lowest altitude — no mountain climbing or sky islands required
- Lake Hylia intercept — the bridge pass is trivially easy to position for
- Faron terrain — flat grassland makes visual tracking and intercept easy
- Skyview Tower launch provides immediate intercept opportunity without waiting
Simultaneous Faron Exploration
Farosh's circuit overlaps with Faron Grasslands content. Combine a Farosh farming session with:
- Korok seed collection in Faron
- Hinox fights (Farosh passes over several Hinox clearing locations)
- Bubbulfrog hunting in Faron caves
- Side quests in Lurelin Village area
Tips
- Farosh is the most beginner-friendly dragon. If you're farming dragons for the first time, start with Farosh — the Lake Hylia approach requires no special preparation beyond Rubber Armor.
- Full Rubber Armor for farming. The shock immunity is not just protection — it also prevents Farosh from zapping your equipped weapons out of Link's hands mid-harvest.
- Target the horn for fuse materials. Farosh's Horn Shard is the most versatile — it works as a fuse material for shock weapons AND upgrades the Rubber Helm to max level. Priority item.
- Arrow conservation. One arrow per body part is all you need. Don't waste bomb arrows or elemental arrows on dragons — a single standard arrow to the glowing spot is sufficient.
- Track Farosh on the Purah Pad. After first contact, Farosh shows as a moving dot on the map. You can see exactly where it is in the circuit without scouting.
