Hebra Depths Guide

The Hebra Depths lies beneath Hebra Mountain and the Rito Village region — a partially ice-infused underground zone where freezing temperatures affect certain corridors. Unlike the Eldin Depths (fire) which requires Flamebreaker, the Hebra Depths cold zones are manageable with basic Cold Resistance from the Snowquill set. Most of the region is actually at normal Depths temperature, with only the northern sections near the Rito Village underground mirror requiring protection.

Preparation

| Protection | Required For | |-----------|-------------| | Snowquill Tunic (1 piece) | Cold Resist 1 — sufficient for most Hebra Depths | | Snowquill Full Set | Recommended for northern Rito underground mirror | | Spicy Elixir | Alternative if Snowquill not yet purchased |

The cold zones in Hebra Depths are Cold Lv1 — one piece of Snowquill or one Spicy Elixir handles all areas.

Entry Points

| Chasm | Surface Location | |-------|-----------------| | Rito Village Chasm | Below Rito Village (the main pillar) | | Hebra East Summit Chasm | High Hebra altitude, requires cold gear on surface | | Tabantha Frontier Chasm | South Hebra/Tabantha boundary | | Biron Snowshelf Chasm | Mid-Hebra snowfields |

Recommended entry: Rito Village Chasm — places you near the primary lightroot cluster and the Rito-themed underground ruins.

Lightroots

| Lightroot | Cold Zone? | Notes | |-----------|-----------|-------| | Rito Mirror Lightroot | Partial | Near Rito Village entry | | Hebra Mountain Lightroot | Yes | Northern summit, Cold Lv1 | | Tabantha Depths Lightroot | No | Southern warm section | | Biron Depths Lightroot | No | Central Hebra Depths | | Hebra East Lightroot | Yes | Near summit entry | | Selmie's Spot Mirror | No | Northwest corner |

Rito Underground Ruins

One of the most visually striking areas in any Depths region — the Rito Village underground mirror contains ancient Rito-themed architecture: feather motifs carved into stone, wind-worn columns, and evidence of a Rito settlement that existed before the current Rito Village was built on the pillar above.

What to find here:

  • 2 Large Poes near the main ruins entrance
  • A Construct Captain (rare Large Zonai Charge drop)
  • A chest with 3–5 Crystallized Charges
  • Ancient Rito cultural artifacts (lore objects)

No major gameplay reward beyond materials, but lore collectors will find it worth the visit.

Ice Hazard Navigation

The northern Hebra Depths corridors have ice formations that serve both as hazards and traversal tools:

  • Ice floor patches — slippery; Link slides uncontrollably; equip Climber's Bandanna or use Fuse+spike footwear
  • Ice walls — can be Cryonis-ed for platforms or climbed with frost-resistant gear
  • Ice Talus — a Talus boss composed of ice ore; weakest to fire arrows and bombs

Useful ability: Cryonis (from the Sheikah Slate predecessor ability in earlier games doesn't exist in TotK — use Ultrahand to pick up ice blocks and place them as platforms). Alternatively, Recall ice blocks that have slid to reposition them.

Mining Outposts

Hebra Depths mining is moderate:

| Outpost | Yield | Special | |---------|-------|---------| | Rito mirror outpost | 8–12 Zonaite | Near ruins | | Central Biron outpost | 10–15 Zonaite | Standard | | South Tabantha outpost | 12–16 Zonaite | Best density |

Special resource: Some Hebra Depths ore deposits yield Sapphire in addition to standard Zonaite — useful for Snowquill upgrades and weapon fusion.

Enemy Overview

| Enemy | Type | Counter | |-------|------|---------| | Ice Lizalfos Skeleton | Ice-charged | Fire arrows | | Bokoblin Skeleton | Standard | Any elemental | | Ice Construct | Zonai ice variant | Bomb arrows or fire fuse | | Ice Talus | Boss | Fire arrows to the ore heart |

Ice Construct workers are unique to Hebra Depths — they launch ice projectiles. Stay mobile and use fire arrows to defeat them efficiently.

Tips

  • Sapphire farming: Hebra Depths ore deposits are the best non-loot-box source of Sapphire for Snowquill ★★★ upgrades
  • Combined run: After a Hebra Depths session, warp to Rito Village for the Wind Temple questline or Rito Village shrine circuit
  • Tulin's Gust in Depths: Tulin's sage ability works underground — use the gust to cross ice patches without slipping
  • Snowquill set bonus (Unfreeze): The Unfreeze bonus from the full Snowquill set prevents getting frozen solid by Ice Lizalfos skeleton spit in the northern Hebra corridors
  • Blood Moon reset: After a Blood Moon, return immediately to Hebra Depths for reset ore deposits — Sapphire nodes especially benefit from blood moon resets
