Lanayru Region Guide — Zora's Domain, East Necluda & Lanayru Promenade
Lanayru Region Guide — East Hyrule's Water Kingdom
Lanayru is TotK's eastern water region — connecting Kakariko/Necluda in the south to Zora's Domain in the north. It's one of the game's most shrine-dense areas, has the Spring of Wisdom at Mount Lanayru's summit, and serves as the main pathway to the Zora storyline. This guide covers the full Lanayru circuit.
Getting to Lanayru
Primary routes:
- From Kakariko Village: North road through Necluda → Lanayru Promenade → Zora's Domain
- From Eldin: East across the mountains → drops into upper Lanayru
- From Akkala: South road past East Akkala Stable → into north Lanayru
The natural questline path: Kakariko → Lanayru Promenade → Zora's Domain → Water Temple. Lanayru is the connector region for the Zora storyline.
Lanayru Promenade
Location: Central Lanayru — wide valley running north to south
The Lanayru Promenade is the main travel corridor through the region:
Ancient Ruins
Multiple ancient Zora stone structures line the promenade — remnants of the Zora kingdom's extended territory. Check each ruin cluster for:
- Korok Seeds (acorn + offering stone types near stone pillars)
- Small chests in archway ruins
- Bokoblin/Lizalfos camps (mid-tier)
Lanayru Wetlands
The wetland area in southern Lanayru:
- Dense Korok Seed zone (flower trails through the tall grass)
- Frog ingredient farming (Tireless Frog + Hot-Footed Frog near the water)
- Several caves with ore deposits under the wetland cliffs
Mount Lanayru
Location: East Lanayru — tall snow-capped mountain
Mount Lanayru is the highest peak in the eastern region:
Summit — Spring of Wisdom
- The Spring of Wisdom is at the Mount Lanayru summit
- One of TotK's three Sacred Springs
- Temperature: Cold damage zone — bring cold resistance for the summit (Snowquill armor or warm food)
- Chest: Summit area has a loot chest accessible only after interacting with the spring
- Korok Seed at the very peak (pinwheel type)
Mount Lanayru Approach
- Multiple caves along the mountain path with ore deposits
- Icicle-covered cave on the east face: Ruby + Topaz nodes
- Blizzrobes patrol the upper mountain — fire-vulnerable mages with ice attacks
Lanaryu Sea (East Coast)
The sea east of Mount Lanayru:
- Coastal cliffs with climbing-type Korok Seeds (reach the peak type)
- Several caves in the cliff face above the sea with Bubbulfrogs
- Offshore sky fragment: small island visible from the cliff — paraglide out to reach it
Shrine Density — Lanayru's Key Advantage
Lanayru has one of the highest shrine concentrations in TotK. Running Sensor+ set to Shrines here is extremely efficient:
Known shrines in the Lanayru region:
- Mulcoroko Shrine (Lanayru Promenade — water puzzle)
- Jiukoum Shrine (Lanayru Wetlands — Fuse mechanics puzzle)
- Kisinona Shrine (east Lanayru — combat trial)
- Rasitakiwak Shrine (north Lanayru — near Zora's Domain approach)
- Makasura Shrine (Necluda/Lanayru border — climbing)
Tip: A single Lanayru sweep with Sensor+ on Shrine mode can net 5-7 shrines in one session. One of the best region-shrine-density ratios in the game.
Zora's Domain (North Lanayru)
See Zora's Domain Guide for full coverage.
Lanayru → Zora's Domain path:
- Follow the north Lanayru road past the Zora River waterway
- Cross the stone bridge at the Lanayru/Zora's Domain border
- Enter Zora's Domain from the south gate
The Zora River runs through Lanayru — follow it north for the most scenic (and Korok-rich) approach.
Lizalfos Camps — Lanayru
Lanayru's river and wetland areas have Lizalfos concentrations:
- Electric Lizalfos near water bodies — use wooden weapons (metal conducts)
- Fire-Breath Lizalfos in drier southern Lanayru areas
- Blue Lizalfos in the cold zone near Mount Lanayru
Lizalfos drops: Lizalfos Horn, Lizalfos Tail (elemental type matches enemy color), Lizalfos Guts — all useful for elixirs.
Wells in Lanayru
- Lanayru Promenade (south): Korok Seed + cooking ingredient chest
- Wetlands area well: Underground passage connecting to a cave with Bubbulfrog
- Near Zora's Domain approach: Mid-tier weapon chest at the bottom
Korok Seeds — Lanayru Priority Zones
Highest density areas:
- Zora River corridor — flower trail Koroks every few hundred meters along the river
- Lanayru Promenade ruins — acorn + offering stone Koroks at each ruin cluster
- Wetlands (south) — leaf pile + flower trail Koroks through grass
A Lanayru Korok circuit starting from Zora's Domain and working south to Kakariko yields 15-20 seeds in a single pass.
Quick Tips
- Shrine-dense region — Lanayru is one of the best regions to run Sensor+ shrine tracking. Expect to find a shrine every 5-10 minutes of exploration.
- Spring of Wisdom = cold zone — pack cold resistance before summiting Mount Lanayru. The spring itself is the reward for the climb.
- Zora River Koroks — the river approach to Zora's Domain is one of the most Korok-rich pathways in Hyrule. Go slow.
- Electric Lizalfos near water — swap to wooden weapons around wetland camps or you'll keep dropping your metal weapon from shock procs.
- Lanayru is the Zora gateway — if you're doing the Zora's Domain storyline, budget time to clear Lanayru's shrines on the way up. You'll thank yourself for having those fast travel points.
