North Lomei Labyrinth Guide — Sky, Surface & Depths Solutions
North Lomei Labyrinth Guide — Three-Layer Puzzle Solution
North Lomei Labyrinth is the northernmost of TotK's three labyrinths — a massive ancient stone maze that spans three layers: a sky island above, the surface labyrinth, and a Depths section directly below. The reward for completing all three is the Ancient Hero's Aspect, a full-body armor cosmetic based on the ancient hero from Skyward Sword. This guide walks through all three sections.
Quick Stats
| Stat | Value | |------|-------| | Location | Akkala Highlands (north), with sky island above and Depths below | | Reward | Ancient Hero's Aspect (full armor cosmetic) | | Difficulty | Intermediate — requires good aerial navigation | | Layers | 3 (Sky Island, Surface, Depths) | | Key Ability | Ascend (essential for shortcuts), Ultrahand |
How to Reach North Lomei Labyrinth
Surface approach:
- Fast travel to the Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower in Akkala
- Fly north/northwest — the labyrinth is on the far northern edge of Akkala, near the Hebra border
- The labyrinth surface entrance is a large stone archway visible from the air
Sky Labyrinth approach (recommended first):
- Launch from Ulri Mountain Tower at maximum altitude
- Fly northwest — the sky island labyrinth floats above the surface one, visible from tower altitude
- Land on top of the sky labyrinth (easier than entering from below)
Section 1 — Sky Labyrinth
The sky labyrinth above North Lomei is a maze on a floating island. It contains a Shrine that must be completed for credit.
Sky Labyrinth Solution
Entry: Land on top of the sky island maze and use Ascend to drop into it from above at strategic points.
Navigation:
- From the top surface, identify the maze layout — the walls are lower at certain points, showing the path structure
- Use Ascend through maze walls to shortcut sections rather than walking the full maze path
- The Shrine is in the center of the sky labyrinth — look for the glowing Shrine beacon from above
- Complete the Shrine for a Light of Blessing
Chest: A chest in the sky labyrinth contains useful rewards before the shrine. Follow the walls to the inner section.
Section 2 — Surface Labyrinth
The surface labyrinth is the main maze structure. A Shrine sits inside it requiring completion.
Surface Labyrinth Solution
Shortcut method (fastest): Use Ascend through the labyrinth walls to bypass the maze entirely. The walls are thick stone but Ascend lets you travel through them vertically.
- Enter the surface labyrinth archway
- Walk to a section of wall where the ceiling above is accessible
- Ascend through the wall → appear on top → walk toward the center from the top
- Descend back into the maze at the center section near the Shrine
- Complete the Shrine
Traditional maze method: Follow the left-wall rule (always keep your left hand on the wall). North Lomei's surface maze is solvable with this method but takes significantly longer.
Chest locations:
- Northern corner has a chest with high-value materials
- Southern section has a second chest near a dead end
Section 3 — Depths Labyrinth
The Depths section directly below North Lomei contains the final reward: the Ancient Hero's Aspect.
Reaching the Depths Labyrinth
- Inside the surface labyrinth, find the chasm/pit that drops into the Depths
- Drop down (glide to slow your fall)
- The Depths labyrinth mirrors the surface maze layout below
Depths Labyrinth Navigation
The Depths is dark — bring Brightbloom Seeds or food with Gloom resistance.
Navigation:
- The Depths maze is the same layout as the surface — if you remember the surface path, the Depths mirrors it
- Use Ascend through the Depths ceiling to pop back up into the surface labyrinth if needed to reorient
- Find the Statue of the Depths at the center — activate it for the Lightroot in this zone
- The Ancient Hero's Aspect chest is in the center of the Depths labyrinth
Ancient Hero's Aspect
What it is: A full-body armor set that transforms Link's appearance into the ancient Hylian hero depicted in the stone murals. It covers the full body (head, chest, legs) as a cosmetic wearable set.
- Effect: Cosmetic only (ancient hero visual) — provides 7 defense when all pieces worn
- Cannot be upgraded at Great Fairies
- Not a combat-optimal armor — purely for the appearance and completionism
- The visual matches the "hero depicted in stone carvings" that Zelda researches throughout the story
Tips for Completion
Bring:
- 20+ Brightbloom Seeds for Depths navigation
- Sundelion meals (for Gloom affliction from the Depths floor)
- 5+ arrows for Depths enemy clearing
Time estimate: 45–60 minutes for all three sections if navigating carefully. 20–30 minutes if you know the Ascend shortcut routes.
Shrine order: Complete both Shrines (sky + surface) before going to the Depths — you can warp out from the Depths more easily after Shrine completion.
