Dokabok Shrine
Dokabok Shrine — Sky Island Combat Trial
Location: Great Sky Island or outer sky archipelago Coordinates: (0842, 1218, 1404) (sky layer) Type: Proving Grounds — Sky Combat Trial Difficulty: Easy (combat) / Medium (approach — sky navigation)
Overview
Dokabok Shrine is a sky-island Proving Grounds combat shrine — one of the few Proving Grounds shrines accessible early in the game, located on the outer edges of the Great Sky Island or the first sky archipelago north of Hyrule Field. The enemies are sky-appropriate Bokoblins (Wind Keese, Sky Bokoblins with updraft bows) and the combat environment is an open sky platform where falls off the edge are a real consequence. Link enters with all equipment stripped and must clear the platform using found weapons. The open-air format rewards mobility and platform awareness alongside basic melee fundamentals.
Preparation
- No gear prep for inside — all equipment removed on entry
- Full hearts are the most valuable prep — falls off the platform do not occur in enclosed Proving Grounds but edge proximity matters
- The sky approach requires: Paraglider, Zonai Wing recommended for the crossing
- No temperature gear needed on Great Sky Island approach — temperate at standard altitude
Walkthrough
Phase 1: Wind Keese Swarm
Four Wind Keese circle the platform at low altitude — they dive-attack in sequence. A Keese Eyeball bow with 8 arrows is on the weapon shelf. Target the lead Keese with a headshot — the homing eyeball arrow tracks it. After two arrows, switch to melee (short sword on the shelf) for the remaining two that close to melee range. The Keese deal chip damage; two hits each clears the swarm.
Phase 2: Sky Bokoblin
A single Sky Bokoblin with a Spiked Boko Bow occupies the elevated platform above the arena. It fires Shock Arrows from range — dodge sideways, not backward, to avoid the homing arc. Close the gap using the platform steps, then engage melee. Shield is on the lower shelf — pick it up before ascending the steps. The Bokoblin has enhanced HP for sky variant; 4-5 hits with the sword clears it.
Phase 3: Wind Bokoblin Captain
A Silver Wind Bokoblin Captain with a Zonai-enhanced weapon drops onto the platform after Phase 2. It uses wind gusts to push Link toward the edge — these gusts are telegraphed by a puff of air animation before the shove. When the gust animation starts, Crouch or move toward the center to reduce knockback. Engage after each failed gust attempt with 2-3 sword hits. Five gust cycles down the Captain.
Step 4: Altar
Platform cleared. The shrine's altar door opens — enter the shrine structure at the platform's center. Collect your Light of Blessing. The chest contains a Sky Sword or Zonaite Sword — a lightweight sky-appropriate weapon.
Tips
- Platform edge awareness: always know where the edge is during the Bokoblin Captain's gust attacks — position yourself away from all edges before the gust animation fires
- Wind Keese: the homing eyeball arrow makes them trivial — spend 2 arrows on homing shots before switching to melee
- Shock Arrows from the Sky Bokoblin are lethal if HP is low — dodge sideways before closing the gap
- The wind gust knockback is reduced significantly by Crouch — use it during the Captain's telegraphed wind-up
- Dokabok's sky combat teaches edge-awareness and wind mechanics that apply throughout the sky island exploration
