Duhhara Shrine
Duhhara Shrine — Combat Trial: Frost
Location: Hebra Mountains, northwest Hyrule Ability Required: Combat Difficulty: Hard — Ice Construct III combat trial
Overview
Duhhara Shrine is a combat trial against an Ice Construct III — the most powerful cold-element construct in the game. It fires ice shards, freezes the arena floor, and can encase Link in ice with its area attacks. Fire weapons and flame arrows cut through its defenses completely.
Preparation
- Fire arrows are essential — stock 20+ (found at Rito Village vendors)
- Flame-fused melee weapons: Attach Fire Fruit or Ruby to a sword for fire damage
- Warm food / Spicy Elixirs for the mountain approach (not needed inside shrine)
- Ice resistance food or Snowquill Armor doesn't affect in-shrine ice construct damage — focus on offense
- Bring 5+ cooked meals
Walkthrough
Phase 1 — Opening
- The Ice Construct III opens with an ice shard volley — dodge sideways and immediately return fire with a fire arrow. It staggers on hit from fire.
- During the stagger (3–4 seconds), rush in with a fire-fused weapon for a melee burst — 4–6 swings.
- After the burst, back off and prep another fire arrow for the next stagger cycle.
Phase 2 — Arena Freeze
- At ~60% HP, the construct slams the floor and radiates ice outward — the floor becomes slippery and walking across it is nearly impossible without sliding into the construct.
- Stay on the non-frozen stone areas (perimeter of the arena) and kite the construct into a corner.
- Fire arrows from the stone perimeter — you have stable footing there and the construct crosses the ice awkwardly, making it an easier target.
Phase 3 — Final Push
- Below 30% HP, the construct rapid-fires ice shards in 3-shot bursts. Shield guard the first shot, then quickly sidestep the remaining two.
- After a 3-shot burst, the construct pauses briefly — that's your fire arrow window.
- One or two more fire arrows into the stagger burst combo should finish it.

Tips
- Fire arrows stagger, fire weapons deal bonus: Fire arrows cause the construct to stagger (can't attack for 3 seconds). Fire-fused melee weapons deal doubled damage per hit. Use both in combination.
- Don't stand on ice: The frozen floor deals no direct damage but destroys your positioning. Stick to the stone perimeter as much as possible.
- Ice encasement: If the construct's ground slam catches you in the center, Link gets frozen solid. Mash buttons to break free — you have about 3 seconds before the construct closes for a free hit.
- Ruby fusion on sword: A Ruby-fused sword deals fire damage with every swing and leaves fire trails on the ground. Worth equipping for this fight.
- Flurry Rush setup: The construct's charge attack is well-telegraphed — it rears back and rushes forward. Sidestep dodge at the last moment for a Flurry Rush opportunity.
