Farosh Shrine
Farosh Shrine — Dragon's Blessing
Location: Faron Region / Lanayru border, Lake Floria area Coordinates: 0680, -2397, 0124 Type: Rauru's Blessing (Shrine Quest unlock) Difficulty: Easy (interior) / Moderate (dragon approach)
Overview
Farosh Shrine is a Rauru's Blessing shrine unlocked by the "Clues to the Sky" shrine quest — which requires riding or interacting with Farosh the Lightning Dragon above the Faron / Lanayru region. Once unlocked, the interior has no puzzle. The approach and dragon interaction make this one of the most memorable shrine quests in the game. As a bonus, the Farosh farming route this quest introduces is one of the most efficient dragon-part farming loops for late-game armor upgrades.
Unlocking the Shrine — Farosh Dragon Quest
Step 1: Find the Shrine Quest Start
- Travel to Lake Floria in the Faron region (south Hyrule, near the Popla Foothills Skyview Tower area).
- Look for an oracle stone near the lakeshore — it shows an image of a dragon in the sky and instructs you to receive a dragon's blessing at altitude.
- Activate the oracle stone to begin the shrine quest.
Step 2: Locate Farosh
Farosh's flight path:
- Farosh circles the Faron / Lake Floria / Lake Hylia region
- Appears most reliably at dawn and dusk — look for a yellow-green glow in the sky
- If not visible: wait at the Lakeside Stable until the sky brightens at dawn, then scan south and west
- Farosh's route: Lake Floria → Floria River → Lake Hylia → back east through Necluda coastal area → back to Faron
Step 3: Mount or Interact with Farosh
To satisfy the shrine quest, ride Farosh at altitude or receive its blessing:
- Get to high elevation — climb a cliff or use a Skyview Tower launch above Farosh's altitude
- Paraglide toward Farosh as it passes beneath your position
- Land on Farosh's back — you can ride the dragon safely without taking damage (Farosh won't attack Link)
- While riding, the shrine quest triggers if you're at the correct altitude above the original shrine location
- Alternatively: shoot Farosh with an arrow at close range to dislodge a Farosh's Scale — this sometimes triggers the shrine unlock depending on the quest variant
Step 4: Shrine Appears
After satisfying the dragon quest condition, Farosh Shrine appears at coordinates 0680, -2397 near the Lake Floria shoreline. Travel to the location and enter.
Inside the Shrine
Walk through the single-room chamber to Rauru's altar.
Check for a treasure chest along the left wall before approaching the altar — Rauru's Blessing shrines often have a chest with a bonus item.
Interact with the Rauru statue for your Light of Blessing.
Farosh Dragon Farming (Bonus Benefit)
Completing this shrine quest introduces you to Farosh's reliable flight path — one of the best dragon farming circuits in the game:
| Dragon Part | Hit Location | Common Use | |-------------|-------------|-----------| | Farosh's Scale | Any body hit | Upgrade Stealth Set, Mystic Set | | Farosh's Claw | Foot hit | Upgrade Barbarian, Zora sets | | Shard of Farosh's Fang | Mouth hit | High-tier armor upgrades | | Shard of Farosh's Horn | Horn hit | Top-tier ★★★★ armor upgrades |
Farming method:
- Warp to Lake Floria area or this shrine
- Wait until dawn at Lakeside Stable
- Farosh appears on cue — mount it and harvest one part
- Warp to another shrine and wait for Blood Moon for next harvest
- Repeat for efficient dragon-part stocking
Nearby Points of Interest
- Lake Floria — the lake directly adjacent; excellent fishing (Voltfin Trout for shock-resistance meals)
- Lakeside Stable — southern shore; nearest rest, cooking pot, and horse board
- Popla Foothills Skyview Tower — north; launch point for aerial approaches to Farosh
- Lurelin Village — southeast coast; fishing village with unique vendors
- Eventide Island — offshore southeast; combat challenge with unique rewards
Tips
- Dawn patrol: Farosh is most reliably spotted at dawn. Set up camp at Lakeside Stable, skip time to morning, and scan the southern sky immediately.
- Riding Farosh: Landing on a dragon's back is easier than it looks — glide toward it from above, aiming for the flat area along its spine. Link auto-grabs the scales and rides safely.
- Shock immunity: Farosh is a Lightning Dragon — being near it during its crackle animation can shock Link. Equip the Rubber Set or shock-resistance food before attempting to ride for the first time.
- Daily reset: Each dragon drops one part per in-game day. Blood Moon accelerates the reset for farming purposes.
- Scale vs Shard: Dragon Scales are the most common dragon part and drop from body hits. Shards (horn, fang) require more precise targeting and are rarer — save them for ★★★★ armor upgrades.
