Kogyah Shrine
Kogyah Shrine — Elemental Duel
Location: Rimewise region Ability Required: Combat proficiency, ice or water weapons Difficulty: Medium — single Fire Bokoblin combat encounter
Overview
Kogyah Shrine is a combat trial featuring one powerful Fire Bokoblin in a contained arena. The Bokoblin is surrounded by fire hazards it controls, making a direct melee approach dangerous. The key is exploiting its elemental weakness: ice and water attacks stun and deal bonus damage, while fire-imbued weapons will heal it.
Preparation
- Bring ice or water weapons (or arrows with ice/splash fruit)
- Spicy food or fire-resistant elixir not needed — the arena is temperate
- Shield with fire resistance helpful but not required
- No Ultrahand puzzles
Walkthrough
Step 1: Arena Entry
- The arena is a circular chamber with braziers lining the walls. The Fire Bokoblin stands in the center, wielding a fire-infused club.
- Do not rush in. The Bokoblin's club has a wide swing arc that ignites the ground. Watch for the fire pools — stepping in them deals continuous damage.
Step 2: Ice Attack Stun
- Open with a Cryonis shard if available, or fire an ice arrow at the Bokoblin from the entrance.
- Ice attacks extinguish its flame aura and cause a stun lasting about 2 seconds — use that window for two quick strikes.
- If using a water weapon (Splash Fruit fused), throw it from medium range to douse the flames and create a safe melee window.
Step 3: Press the Advantage
- After each ice stun, sprint in and deliver 2–3 melee hits, then back off before the Bokoblin recovers its fire aura.
- Avoid the braziers — they can reignite the Bokoblin even after you've extinguished it.
- Repeat the ice stun → melee cycle until the Bokoblin falls. It has no sub-phases or reinforcements.
Altar
The door to the altar opens after the Bokoblin is defeated. Collect your Light of Blessing.
Tips
- Ice arrows are best: One ice arrow stuns, two kills if you follow up with good melee. Conserve them if you're low.
- Splash Fruit substitute: If no ice arrows, fuse a Splash Fruit to any weapon and throw it. The water dousing effect works the same as ice stun for a 1–2 second window.
- Fire pool avoidance: Fire pools from the Bokoblin's attacks persist for 8–10 seconds. Map the safe floor area as you fight — the north side of the arena typically stays clear if you keep the Bokoblin moving.
- Shield bash timing: The fire-club swing has a long windup. Shield bash on the downswing staggers the Bokoblin even without a stun, giving a free hit. Practice the timing on the first swing.
- Chest: A chest sits in the alcove behind the starting position. It's accessible before combat begins — grab it first.
