Korin Shrine — Swinging Mechanisms

Location: Hebra Mountains, northwest Hyrule Ability Required: Ultrahand Difficulty: Medium — pendulum timing and swing momentum puzzle

Overview

Korin Shrine revolves around pendulum and swing mechanics. You'll use Ultrahand to set heavy objects in motion, then use their swing arc to reach otherwise inaccessible platforms and trigger distant switches. Timing your interactions with moving objects is the core skill here.

Preparation

  • No combat
  • No special gear
  • Takes 8–12 minutes

Walkthrough

Room 1 — Basic Pendulum

  1. A large stone block hangs from a ceiling chain, forming a pendulum. The exit platform is on the far side of the room.
  2. Use Ultrahand to push the pendulum block — swing it away from you, then release. It swings back and returns, sweeping past your position.
  3. Board the pendulum as it passes — grab the chain or the block face with Ultrahand while it's swinging through your zone, and ride it to the far platform.
  4. Jump off at the apex of the swing over the far platform.

Room 2 — Pendulum Switch

  1. Two pendulums hang from the ceiling. A switch on the far wall requires being hit by the pendulum to activate it (opens the gate).
  2. Set pendulum 1 swinging by pushing it. Guide its arc with Ultrahand to angle toward the switch on the right wall.
  3. The pendulum hits the switch — gate opens. Sprint through.

Room 3 — Swing Launch

  1. The altar is on a high platform with no stairs. A long rope swing (Tarzan-style) hangs from the ceiling in the center of the room.
  2. Use Ultrahand to pull the rope toward your position, then climb/hang on it and push off the wall.
  3. At the apex of the swing (over the high platform), release and drop onto the platform.

Tips

  • Pendulum riding: The window to "board" a swinging pendulum is about 1 second per pass. Time your Ultrahand grab for when the block is closest to you, not when it's far away.
  • Don't fight the arc: When riding a pendulum, don't use Ultrahand to stop it — let the momentum carry you. Fighting the arc stalls the swing and you won't reach the far platform.
  • Room 2 angle trick: You can use Ultrahand to slightly redirect a swinging pendulum's arc mid-swing. A small nudge left or right steers it toward the switch without killing its momentum.
  • Rope swing: Pull the rope to the starting ledge as far back as possible before releasing. More pullback = more swing arc = higher apex. You need a high apex to land on the altar platform.
  • Chest in Room 1: After crossing on the pendulum, look for a chest on a ledge above the exit. You can reach it by riding the pendulum a second time to a higher apex, then jumping to the ledge.
