Mayausiy Shrine
Mayausiy Shrine — Combat Trial: Thunder
Location: Sky Islands, high altitude above Eldin Ability Required: Combat Difficulty: Hard — electric-element Construct III combat trial
Overview
Mayausiy Shrine is a combat trial pitting you against a Thunder Construct III — a Zonai construct enemy that fights using electric attacks, lightning bolts, and an electrified staff. Metal weapons are dangerous here; bring wooden weapons or use insulated gloves. High damage output on both sides makes preparation critical.
Preparation
- DO NOT bring metal weapons — the Thunder Construct can electrify them, stunning Link when holding metal
- Bring wooden weapons (wood clubs, tree branches, wooden staves with bomb fusions)
- Arrows + Fire fusions or Ice fusions are the construct's elemental weaknesses (ice especially)
- Shock damage resists: Rubber Armor set (from East Akkala Stable area) provides shock resistance if available
- Bring 5+ hearty/endura meals — the Thunder Construct hits very hard
Walkthrough
Phase 1 — Opening Rush
- The Thunder Construct opens with an electric staff swipe. Dodge left or right immediately — not backward. A sidestep dodge triggers a Flurry Rush.
- After Flurry Rush, back off immediately — the construct counter-attacks faster than most enemies.
- Shoot an ice arrow from range — freezes the construct for 3 seconds. Use that window for 3–5 wooden weapon hits.
Phase 2 — Lightning Calls
- When the construct raises its staff overhead, sprint away fast — it calls down a targeted lightning strike that covers a wide radius.
- After the strike misses, counterattack with ice arrows again before it resets.
- Watch the floor: electrified metal debris from the fight can stun you if you step on it — stick to clear floor sections.
Phase 3 — Below 30% HP
- The construct becomes frantic, stringing together 3–5 hit combos with minimal pause.
- Defensive strategy: Shield parry the combo opener (A + R right before impact), then counterattack during the recoil window.
- Continue ice arrow cycling until the construct is defeated.

Tips
- Wooden weapons only: Iron/Steel weapons in your hand when the construct zaps the ground = instant stun + dropped weapon. Bring a wood-fused weapon (tree branch + Bomb Flower is excellent).
- Ice arrows freeze on contact: Keep your bow focused — don't spam, one accurate ice arrow does more than three missed ones.
- The sky arena has edges: Don't back up too far — there's no wall on this sky island. A few too many panicked backpedals can put you over the edge.
- Bomb Flower fusions on wooden weapons deal massive burst damage during the freeze window — this is the ideal combo here.
- Run and regroup: Unlike ground shrines, you have infinite open space to kite the construct at range. Use it — don't box yourself in trying to melee trade.
