Obunobo Shrine — Rauru's Blessing

Location: Faron region, Faron Forest interior Coordinates: (2124, -1898, 0084) Type: Blessing Shrine Difficulty: Easy

Overview

Obunobo Shrine is a Rauru's Blessing shrine — no internal puzzle, only an external challenge required to access it. The shrine sits deep in the Faron Forest, hidden beneath dense canopy coverage that makes aerial navigation difficult. Reaching Obunobo requires navigating through the forest on foot, solving an environmental puzzle involving a specific tree pattern in the surrounding area, and defeating a guardian protecting the shrine entrance. Once inside, the Light of Blessing is a direct reward for the forest navigation challenge itself.

The Exterior Challenge: Faron Forest Navigation

Finding the Shrine

The Faron Forest surrounding Obunobo is dense enough that the shrine marker is invisible until within 100 meters. Use the Sensor+ function on the Purah Pad (set to detect shrines) to guide you through the forest when the shrine is nearby.

Navigation landmarks:

  • From Lakeside Stable: head southeast into the forest, following the tree line
  • Look for a cluster of unusual trees with glowing mushrooms at their bases — the shrine is within 50m
  • The shrine's orange entrance glow becomes visible through the canopy at approximately 80m distance

Environmental Puzzle: Tree Ring

A ring of nine large trees surrounds a clearing near the shrine. Eight trees are normal. One tree has been moved slightly out of position — it doesn't fit the circular pattern. Use Ultrahand to move the displaced tree back into the ring's alignment. When all nine trees form a perfect circle, the shrine entrance pillar activates and the door opens.

Guardian: Forest Construct

A Construct with a Construct Spear guards the entrance once the tree ring activates. It has additional movement speed compared to standard Constructs — it closes distance rapidly. Either use Sneakstrike from the surrounding forest cover (approach from behind during the activation animation), or engage directly with Z-targeting and dodge-timing. Three Flurry Rush sequences defeat it cleanly.

Inside the Shrine

No puzzle. Walk through the short carved-stone corridor to the altar. The interior has Faron-themed organic architecture: vines along the walls, filtered light through a canopy-like ceiling opening. Collect your Light of Blessing from the altar.

Chest contents: A Royal Shield and Amber x3 — materials from the surrounding Faron forest soil.

Tips

  • Sensor+ shrine detection is essential — without it, finding Obunobo in dense Faron forest is very time-consuming
  • The displaced tree in the ring puzzle: look for the one that's rotated slightly differently or positioned 1-2 meters outside the natural curve
  • Sneakstrike on the Forest Construct is the safest approach — the activation animation provides a guaranteed approach window
  • Faron Forest has multiple Korok Seed puzzles in the surrounding canopy — explore before and after the shrine for seeds
  • The Faron Forest at night is quieter making it easier to hear the Construct's patrol movement before engaging

Nearby Points of Interest

  • Lakeside Stable — northwest, nearest rest and resupply point
  • Lake Floria — north, large aquatic zone with Zora and Lizalfos encounters
  • Faron Skyview Tower — southeast, essential for the Faron/south Hyrule map activation
  • Lurelin Village — south, coastal fishing village with full services and pirate questline
