Sae Oniwa Shrine
Sae Oniwa Shrine — Water and Stone
Location: Rimewise region Ability Required: Ultrahand Difficulty: Medium — block and water mechanics combined
Overview
Sae Oniwa Shrine interweaves two distinct mechanics — block manipulation and water flow — requiring you to think about both systems simultaneously. Blocks must be placed to redirect water channels, which in turn unlock gates and raise platforms. Neither system works in isolation; both must be engaged in the right sequence.
Preparation
- Ultrahand required
- No combat
- Takes 10–14 minutes
- Water pressure changes affect block placement — work systematically
Walkthrough
Step 1: First Channel — Block Dam
- The entrance chamber has an open water channel running left-to-right. A gate blocks the forward path, and the gate only opens when the channel is full (water pressure sensor below it).
- Use Ultrahand to pick up the stone block in the right alcove and place it across the channel as a dam, blocking water flow.
- The channel fills behind the dam, pressure sensor activates, gate opens. Walk through.
Step 2: Water Wheel and Platform
- The second chamber has a water wheel suspended above an empty basin. A platform is chained to the wheel.
- You need to fill the basin to spin the wheel, which raises the platform to the upper level.
- There is a secondary channel valve on the south wall — use Ultrahand to rotate the valve wheel 90 degrees clockwise to divert water into the basin.
- The basin fills, the wheel spins, the platform rises. Wait for it to lock at full height before stepping on.
Step 3: Block Bridge to Altar
- The upper level has a final gap between you and the altar. Two stone slabs are available.
- Use Ultrahand to lay one slab horizontally across the gap as a bridge. The gap is wide — one slab doesn't span it fully.
- Pick up the second slab and attach it to the first end-to-end using Ultrahand. Combined, they span the gap.
- Cross to the altar.

Tips
- Dam placement: The stone block needs to cover the full channel width to trigger the sensor — partial coverage won't work. Position it so water pools visibly behind it before moving on.
- Valve direction: Counterclockwise closes the water. Clockwise opens it. If you accidentally close it, rotate back and the basin drains. Refill by rotating clockwise again.
- Platform timing: The platform locks at maximum height automatically after 8–10 seconds of wheel spin. Don't jump onto the rising platform — wait for the lock click.
- Two-slab bridge: Attach the slabs in open space with Ultrahand, then move the combined bridge to span the gap as a single unit. Individual placement across the gap is harder and often results in misalignment.
- Chest: In the second chamber, before diverting water to the basin, check the dry north alcove accessible only when the channel water is dammed. The chest is there.
