Serutabomac Shrine — Ball Maze

Location: Central Hyrule, southeast Hyrule Field Ability Required: Ultrahand Difficulty: Medium — ball-maze tilt puzzle

Overview

Serutabomac Shrine features a ball maze — a large tilting platform with walls and channels forming a maze. You tilt the entire platform with Ultrahand to roll a metal ball through the maze channels and into the goal hole. Precise tilting skill is the challenge.

Preparation

  • No combat
  • Takes 8–15 minutes (maze is tricky)
  • No special gear

Walkthrough

Maze Layout

The platform is a flat board with raised walls forming a winding channel — S-curve, then a wide turn, then a narrow straightaway to the goal hole in the far corner.

Getting the Ball In

  1. The ball starts at a launch point above the maze edge. Use Ultrahand to tilt the entire maze platform so the ball rolls from the launch point into the maze entrance.

Navigating the Maze

  1. S-Curve: Tilt the platform right-forward to roll the ball into the S-curve entry. At the S's midpoint, tilt left-forward to navigate the curve. At the S's exit, straighten to neutral.
  2. Wide Turn: A gentle tilt left guides the ball around the wide left turn. Don't over-tilt — the ball rolls faster in the wide section.
  3. Narrow Straightaway: Tilt slightly forward (very small angle) to roll the ball slowly down the narrow channel toward the goal hole. Too fast = the ball skips over the hole.

Goal

  1. The ball drops into the goal hole — the gate to the altar opens.

Tips

  • Slow is smooth: The biggest mistake is tilting too aggressively. Small, controlled tilts give you precise ball movement. Large tilts send the ball careening into walls.
  • Neutral position: When transitioning between sections (S-curve to wide turn), briefly return to neutral (flat platform) to reset the ball's momentum before the next tilt direction.
  • The narrow channel is the hardest: Use a very gentle forward tilt for the final straightaway. If the ball consistently skips the hole, you're tilting too far. 5-degree maximum.
  • Ball reset: If the ball falls off the maze, a new ball spawns at the launch point. There's no limit to resets — just try again.
  • Camera angle: Zoom out your camera (Y button) to see more of the maze at once while tilting. Default close camera makes it hard to see where the ball is heading.
