Souuniuh Shrine
Souuniuh Shrine — Necluda Blessing
Location: Necluda, Hateno Village area Coordinates: 3360, -2174, 0232 Quest Required: "Team Cece or Team Reede?" side quest (Hateno Village political questline) Difficulty: Easy — Rauru's Blessing
Overview
Souuniuh Shrine is a Rauru's Blessing shrine that appears after completing a specific Hateno Village side quest — no puzzle inside, just the reward for the outdoor challenge of completing the quest chain. Located east of Hateno Village on a hillside visible from the village's main road. This shrine is part of the Hateno Village questline that culminates in the mayor's election arc, one of the most elaborate village quest chains in the game.
Unlocking the Shrine — Hateno Village Questline
Souuniuh Shrine is linked to the "Team Cece or Team Reede?" questline in Hateno Village.
How to Start
- Travel to Hateno Village (southeast Necluda, accessible via Necluda Highway or warp to Zanmik Shrine nearby).
- Speak to Cece near the clothing shop in the village center. She discusses hats and running against Mayor Reede.
- Separately, speak to Reede (the current mayor) about village governance.
- Take on the questline and complete the assigned tasks for one or both candidates.
Quest Steps Summary
- Assist Cece: Help promote her hat business or her candidacy by completing tasks she assigns (delivering hats, investigating villager preferences)
- Investigate Reede: Optionally investigate the mayor's unusual behavior (he disappears at night — a separate questline reveals his Gloom-related backstory)
- Election day: Attend the village vote. Cece wins the election regardless of your choices — she becomes mayor.
- Shrine reveals: After the election concludes, Souuniuh Shrine appears on the hillside east of the village.
If You Skipped the Quest
If you see the shrine glowing on the hillside but didn't do the quest, the shrine may already be accessible — some players report finding it open without completing the questline. Approach and check if the entrance gate is open.
Inside the Shrine
The interior is a single circular chamber with no obstacles.
- Walk through the entrance arch.
- Check for a treasure chest on the left side before approaching the altar.
- Interact with Rauru's statue for your Light of Blessing.
Chest Location
Souuniuh Shrine contains a treasure chest inside the chamber near the entrance wall. Common contents include:
- A piece of Cece's hat set (the stylish mushroom hat rewarded for the questline)
- A Hateno Village-specific weapon or gear
- Rupees or a Zonaite material bundle
Collect before touching the altar.
Nearby Points of Interest

Tips
- Do the full questline: The Hateno Village mayor arc is one of the most entertaining side quest chains in TotK — completing it fully reveals backstory about Reede's connection to Gloom and unlocks additional rewards beyond this shrine.
- Talk to everyone: Multiple questline triggers require speaking to specific villagers at specific times of day. Exhaust dialogue options when visiting.
- Nighttime Reede: If investigating the mayor, follow him after dark — he leaves the village north toward a secret garden. This leads to a separate questline revealing his gardening hobby and Gloom connection.
- Dye shop: Hateno Village has the only reliable dye shop in Hyrule. Colors cost 20 Rupees each. Visit while here to customize your armor sets.
- Cece's rewards: Completing the questline fully rewards a unique hat armor piece with solid defense. Worth finishing.
Region Context — Necluda
Necluda is the southeastern region of Hyrule, characterized by rolling hills, coastal terrain, and dense population of Lizalfos in the wetlands. The Depths below Necluda contain significant Gloom pools and Yiga Clan outposts. Hateno Village is the cultural hub of the region — a self-sufficient farming and crafting community that survived the Calamity largely intact.
