Yomarek Shrine
Yomarek Shrine — Proving Ground: Construction
Location: Gerudo Desert, southwest quadrant near the Western Ruins Coordinates: (-4212, -3492, 0024) Type: Puzzle / Construction Shrine Difficulty: Medium
Overview
Yomarek Shrine is a Zonai construction challenge — Link must build functional vehicles and devices from Zonai components to navigate each room's environment. Unlike combat proving grounds or pure puzzle shrines, Yomarek sits at the intersection of creativity and engineering: the materials provided can solve each room in multiple ways, and players who experiment find elegant solutions while those who rush find frustrating roadblocks. The Gerudo Desert theme is reinforced by the shrine's sand floor surfaces and amber lighting, creating a fitting environment for a test of ingenuity that the ancient Gerudo builders would have appreciated.
Preparation
- Strong Ultrahand proficiency — construction requires precise attachment and rotation
- Familiarity with Zonai Fan, Zonai Wheel, and Zonai Rocket devices helps significantly
- No weapons or combat gear needed — purely a construction shrine
- Desert Voe Set for the exterior desert approach
- A flexible mindset — the shrine's intended solutions are not always the most creative ones possible
Walkthrough
Step 1: Build a Rover
The first room provides: two Zonai Wheels, one flat board, and one Zonai Fan. Build a ground vehicle by attaching both wheels to the board's sides and the Fan to the rear. Activate the Fan and the vehicle drives forward across the sandy floor. The gate at the far end opens when the vehicle triggers the pressure plate on contact. Ride the vehicle across or just push it to the plate — either approach works.
Step 2: Elevated Platform Transport
The second room has a wide gap and a vertical ledge too high to reach by jumping. Materials: one large plank, two Zonai Rockets, one Zonai Balloon. Attach the Balloon to the plank's underside and the Rockets to both ends pointing downward at 30-degree angles — the Balloon provides initial lift while the Rockets correct horizontal drift. Activate the Balloon (by lighting it with a flame source in the room) then trigger both Rockets simultaneously. The combined thrust lifts the platform high enough to clear the ledge. Ride it up and step off at the top.
Step 3: Bridge Construction with Constraints
The third room has a gap bridged by a river of slow-moving sand (waist-deep). Walking through is possible but triggers a trap mechanism. Instead, build a bridge from the provided metal beams: two beams joined end-to-end span the gap cleanly above the sand flow. Position the joined beams across the gap using Ultrahand, resting them on both platform edges. Cross the metal bridge without touching the sand below.
Step 4: Vertical Shaft Launch
The final section requires reaching a platform 8 meters overhead with no accessible surfaces for Ascend. Materials: one Zonai Rocket and one flat disk. Attach the Rocket to the disk's underside pointing downward. Stand on the disk, activate the Rocket, and it launches vertically. Time your jump off the disk at peak altitude — the Rocket carries the disk to the correct height if you hold your position. Step onto the upper platform during the brief apex window before descent.
Step 5: Altar
The altar is on the upper platform. Collect your Light of Blessing. The chest contains Zonai Capsule x3 — each containing a random Zonai device, rewarding the shrine's engineering focus with more construction materials.
Tips
- In Step 1, a Fan-powered rover is the intended solution but a simple push also works — don't over-engineer
- Balloon lift in Step 2 requires a flame source to ignite — use a Fire Fruit from the shrine's material shelf
- Step 3's sand flow triggers a trap if you walk through it — always build the metal beam bridge
- Rocket launches in Step 4 peak at about 9-10 meters — time your jump off at 7-8 meters for safe platform landing
- Unused Zonai devices in each room can be carried forward — a Rocket from Step 4 is usable in optional side areas
