Zakusu Shrine
Zakusu Shrine — Spring Launch
Location: Lanayru, south of Zora's Domain Ability Required: Ultrahand Difficulty: Easy — spring and catapult launch puzzle
Overview
Zakusu Shrine introduces spring-loaded launch mechanisms. You'll use Ultrahand to aim catapult arms and load spring platforms to launch objects — and yourself — to high platforms and across wide gaps. A physics-forward shrine with great vertical range.
Preparation
- No combat
- No special gear
- Paraglider useful as backup
- Takes 5–7 minutes
Walkthrough
Room 1 — Load and Fire
- A catapult sits in the center of the room. The throwing arm is locked downward. A heavy stone ball is beside it.
- Use Ultrahand to place the stone ball in the catapult's cup.
- Grab the catapult arm with Ultrahand and pull it back (downward) as far as it goes, then release — the arm snaps forward and launches the ball.
- The ball smashes through a wooden wall, opening the passage.
Room 2 — Aim the Catapult
- The exit is on a high platform to the upper right. The catapult in this room can reach it, but the aim needs to be adjusted.
- Use Ultrahand to rotate the catapult's base — point the throwing arm toward the upper right platform.
- Load a stone ball, pull back, and release — the ball arcs up and hits the pressure plate on the platform, activating the gate.
Room 3 — Self-Launch
- A spring platform (compressed spring under a flat board) sits near a gap. The altar is on a platform above and across.
- Stand on the spring platform board. Use Ultrahand to grab the spring from the side and release it — the spring decompresses and launches Link upward.
- At the apex of the launch, deploy your Paraglider and glide to the altar platform.

Tips
- Catapult pull-back distance: Pull the arm back as far as it physically allows — maximum tension = maximum launch distance. A half-pull results in a weak shot that won't reach the target.
- Catapult aim precision: Rotate the catapult base in small increments. The arc of the projectile is predictable — aim slightly past the target to account for the arc's descent.
- Self-launch height: The spring platform launches you quite high. You don't need to immediately Paraglide at the peak — wait 0.5 seconds after the apex for a more stable glide.
- Room 2 alternative: Instead of hitting the pressure plate with the ball, you can simply attach a rocket to yourself (via shield-rocket) and fly directly to the upper platform — faster but uses a rocket.
- Chest access: In Room 1, after the wall breaks, check behind the broken wall remnants — there's often a chest hidden in the corner.
