South Lomei Labyrinth Guide — Desert Sky Maze Complete Solution

South Lomei Labyrinth sits on the southern border of Hyrule near the Gerudo Desert — one of three great ancient labyrinths built by a civilization that predates the Zonai. Like its northern counterpart, it spans three layers: a sky island, the surface maze, and a Depths section below. Completing all three unlocks Shrines, rare chests, and the satisfaction of solving one of TotK's most elaborate exploration puzzles.

Quick Stats

| Stat | Value | |------|-------| | Location | Gerudo Highlands south, bordering the desert | | Layers | 3 (Sky Island, Surface, Depths) | | Rewards | 2 Shrines (Light of Blessing ×2), rare chests, Depths chest | | Key Ability | Ascend (essential), Ultrahand | | Recommended Hearts | 6+ (Depths Gloom hazard) |

How to Reach South Lomei Labyrinth

From Gerudo Highland Skyview Tower:

  1. Launch from the Gerudo Highland Tower
  2. Fly south-southeast — the labyrinth is visible on the southern Gerudo plateau edge
  3. The surface entrance is accessible at plateau level

From Gerudo Desert:

  1. From Gerudo Town, head southeast into the highlands
  2. The labyrinth's south face is accessible from the desert basin approach, though the surface is higher elevation — use paraglider updrafts

Sky Labyrinth from air:

  1. At maximum Skyview Tower altitude, fly south toward the floating sky island version above South Lomei
  2. Easier to spot from the Necluda Skyview Tower direction (approach from east)

Section 1 — Sky Labyrinth (South)

The sky labyrinth above South Lomei is a large floating stone maze. It contains a Shrine and rare chests.

Sky Labyrinth Navigation

Top-down approach:

  1. Land on the top surface of the sky island (easier than finding the entrance from below)
  2. Walk the top surface and use Ascend to drop into interior sections
  3. Identify the Shrine beacon from above — it's visible as a glow through the maze top
  4. Ascend-shortcut your way to the Shrine center
  5. Complete the Shrine

Chest hunting:

  • Two chests are in the sky labyrinth interior — check alcoves on both sides of the Shrine chamber
  • One chest contains a high-attack weapon or rare material

Section 2 — Surface Labyrinth (South)

The surface labyrinth is the most elaborate of the three south layers. A Shrine is inside.

Surface Labyrinth Solution

Ascend shortcut (fastest method):

  1. Enter the main archway of the surface labyrinth
  2. Move to any interior wall section
  3. Ascend through the wall → emerge on top of the labyrinth walls
  4. Walk the top toward the center while looking for openings or another Ascend point to re-enter at the Shrine location
  5. Drop into the Shrine chamber from above

Note on South Lomei layout: The southern labyrinth is more complex than North Lomei with deeper internal corridors. The Ascend shortcut is strongly recommended — attempting to solve the surface maze via traditional wall-following takes 20–30 minutes.

Traditional route: If you want to solve the maze without Ascend shortcuts, right-hand rule (keep your right hand on the wall) tends to work for this labyrinth's layout due to its directional construction.

Section 3 — Depths Labyrinth (South)

The Depths section below South Lomei mirrors the surface layout in the underground. Contains the primary valuable chest for this labyrinth.

Entering the Depths

  1. Inside the surface labyrinth, find the chasm/pit — it's in the deeper interior section
  2. Drop down and glide to slow descent
  3. The Depths labyrinth below is darker than the surface — the Gerudo Depths has active enemy patrols

Depths Navigation

Hazards:

  • Gloom on the Depths floor — bring Sundelion meals or Gloom-resistant food
  • Gibdo enemies patrol the southern Depths — they're attracted to movement, especially without Radiant Armor
  • Frox (large Depths creature) may be present in the outer areas

Navigation:

  1. Use Brightbloom Seeds aggressively — the southern Depths is poorly lit
  2. The maze mirrors the surface — use your memory of the surface layout
  3. Find the Lightroot at the labyrinth center to illuminate the area and set a warp point
  4. The reward chest is near the Lightroot in the center chamber

Depths Reward

The South Lomei Depths chest contains a rare material, weapon, or armor component — typically a high-value item appropriate for the exploration investment required.

All Three Labyrinths Complete

If you complete North Lomei, South Lomei, and the third labyrinth (in the Akkala island chain), you've cleared one of TotK's major optional exploration challenges. The three Lightroots in the Depths labyrinth zones also improve overall Depths map coverage significantly.

Completion rewards across all three:

  • 6 Shrines total (2 per labyrinth × 3 labyrinths)
  • Ancient Hero's Aspect (North Lomei Depths reward)
  • Rare weapons and materials from all chests
  • 3 Lightroot activations

Tips

  • Bring: 20+ Brightbloom Seeds, 3–5 Sundelion meals, 20+ arrows for Depths enemies
  • Sequence: Sky → Surface → Depths. Complete Shrines before descending to Depths so you have warp points.
  • Ascend is king: This ability trivializes labyrinth mazes — use it at every wall to scout from above
