About This Lightroot
Takuwan Lightroot (anagram of Nawukat Shrine) anchors an extraordinary paleontological site in the northern Lanayru Depths where the cave floor and walls are a densely-packed marine fossil bed — physical evidence that this entire region was once a shallow inland sea millions of years before Hyrule's current geological era. Fish skeletons of species with no living analogs, shell impression arrays spanning 5-meter sections of wall, and unmistakably large cetacean-form outlines (visible when the lightroot glow hits the surface at low angle) are concentrated in the main chamber. Zora researchers have made multiple visits documented in carved and written notes affixed to the cave walls — the notes annotate specific specimens with estimated ages and species classifications in the Zora academic script. A sealed display alcove behind a bombed wall contains the Zora's most significant find: a near-complete skeleton of an unknown species approximately 8 meters long, partially excavated from the cave floor and preserved in situ with Zora-carved protective barriers around it. The fossils themselves are non-harvestable, but the cave floor surrounding the fossil beds contains concentrated deposits of Opal and Luminous Stone from the same ancient seabed chemistry. Gloom density is low — consistent with the nearby Sikukuu waterfall suppression zone. A Bubbulfrog has nested in the cetacean rib cage. Chain navigation: south hub to Sikukuu, north approach to Zora Domain depths.
