Speak with Symin at the Research Lab

Travel to Hateno Village and find Symin at the old Hateno Ancient Tech Lab, now a museum-research hybrid since Purah moved to Lookout Landing. Symin explains that Purah left five research journals scattered around the lab during her rapid departure and he needs them recovered to complete the archive. He marks approximate areas on the mini-map where Purah typically worked.

Find the First Three Journals

Journal 1 is on the laboratory workbench near the central machine — easy to spot. Journal 2 is on a high shelf in the observation room, requiring Ascend or a ladder to reach. Journal 3 fell behind a heavy cabinet that can be moved with Ultrahand. Each journal has Purah's distinctive handwriting and a small sheikah eye stamp on the cover to confirm authenticity.

Locate the Final Two Journals

Journal 4 is outside on the rooftop terrace, tucked under a weather shelter Purah built over a telescope. Climb the exterior wall or use Ascend through the ceiling. Journal 5 is the most hidden — it slipped into a floor crack and landed in the lab basement below. Descend via the trapdoor near the main furnace or use Ascend from below if you can reach the basement through an exterior hatch.

Return Journals to Symin and Claim the Reward

Bring all five journals to Symin at the reception desk. He reads through them with growing excitement, discovering several previously unknown Purah research notes about ancient dye chemistry. As thanks, he shares the Ancient Dye recipe — a cooking method for creating dyes from rare flowers that unlock special armor color options. He also provides a Silver Rupee worth 100 Rupees from the lab operating fund.
