Ore Farming — Gems, Luminous Stone, and Flint

Ore deposits are the backbone of rupee income and armor upgrade materials. Every ore deposit respawns on a Blood Moon cycle, making them infinitely farmable.

What Ore Deposits Contain

| Material | Rarity | Shop Sell Value | Primary Use | |----------|--------|----------------|-------------| | Flint | Very Common | 2 rupees | Campfires, early selling | | Amber | Common | 10 rupees | Armor upgrades (Amber Earrings, others) | | Opal | Uncommon | 60 rupees | Armor upgrades (Zora Armor set) | | Luminous Stone | Uncommon | 70 rupees | Armor upgrades, Goron exchange | | Topaz | Rare | 180 rupees | Armor upgrades, sell surplus | | Ruby | Rare | 210 rupees | Armor upgrades, sell surplus | | Sapphire | Rare | 260 rupees | Armor upgrades, sell surplus | | Diamond | Very Rare | 500 rupees | High-tier armor upgrades |

Best Ore Farming Regions

Eldin Region (North of Death Mountain) The volcanic region around Death Mountain is the single richest ore farming area in the game. The rocky terrain is packed with ore deposits every few steps. Ruby drop rates are noticeably higher here due to the volcanic biome.

  • Start at Eldin Canyon Skyview Tower
  • Drop down the western and eastern slopes
  • Mine every grey spotted rock cluster
  • Circle around the base of Death Mountain for 50–80 ore nodes per route
  • Expected haul per run: 20–40 gems including 2–6 Rubies

Lanayru Mountain Region The snowy peaks east of Zora's Domain offer dense ore clusters with strong Luminous Stone and Sapphire drop rates.

  • Approach from Mt. Lanayru Skyview Tower
  • Work the rocky ridgelines heading southwest toward Zora's Domain
  • Check every cave entrance — cave interiors often contain 5–10 extra ore nodes
  • Expected haul per run: 15–30 gems, heavy Luminous Stone presence

Akkala Citadel Ruins (Akkala Region) The citadel ruins sit on a large rocky promontory surrounded by ore-dense terrain. Less traveled than Eldin, meaning players often skip this route.

  • Warp to Akkala Citadel Ruins area
  • Circle the outer walls and descend the rocky face to the east
  • Check the cave beneath the ruins
  • Expected haul per run: 15–25 gems

Gerudo Highlands The high desert plateau contains rock clusters with a mix of Ruby and Topaz nodes.

  • Best approached from Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower
  • Work east and north along the plateau edges
  • Cave interiors here are rich in ore
  • Expected haul per run: 10–20 gems

Breaking Ore Efficiently

The fastest method for breaking large ore clusters:

  1. Fused rock weapon — fuse a Hylian Stone (found on ground) to a two-handed weapon. This creates a hammer with massive ore-breaking multiplier. Smash 3–5 nodes per swing.
  2. Bomb Flowers — one Bomb Flower detonated in the center of a tight cluster breaks 4–8 deposits simultaneously.
  3. Yunobo's Ability — the Sage of Fire's charge attack breaks every ore deposit in its path. Extremely efficient for linear rock walls.
  4. Arrow + Bomb Flower fuse — shoot a fused Bomb Flower arrow at a deposit cluster from range.

Zonaite Farming — Central Mine and Depths Routes

Zonaite is the currency for battery upgrades at the Crystal Refinery (Lookout Landing). Large Zonaite upgrades a full battery cell. You need hundreds of Zonaite for all upgrades.

The Central Mine (Best Single Location)

The Central Hyrule Depths contains the largest single Zonaite mining operation in the game: the Central Mine.

How to reach it:

  • Drop into any Central Hyrule chasm (the largest chasm is just south of Hyrule Castle)
  • Navigate to coordinates approximately (0, -0800, -0500) in the Depths
  • The Central Mine is a massive complex with Construct workers and large Zonaite ore veins

What's there:

  • Giant Zonaite deposits (yield 3–5 Zonaite per break, more than surface deposits)
  • Large Zonaite deposits (rare, yield 1 Large Zonaite = 3 regular Zonaite equivalent)
  • Construct enemies carrying Zonaite
  • Per run: 30–60 Zonaite before exhaustion

Central Mine route:

  1. Activate the nearby Lightroot for illumination and warp point
  2. Clear Constructs in the mining area
  3. Break every Zonaite vein in the main gallery and side tunnels
  4. Check upper platforms for Large Zonaite nodes
  5. Blood Moon → reset → repeat

Secondary Depths Zonaite Routes

Lanayru Depths (East Route)

  • Strong Zonaite density along the eastern Depths wall
  • Combine with Lightroot activation for navigation
  • 20–40 Zonaite per run

Eldin Depths (North Route)

  • Moderate Zonaite with bonus ore deposits on the route
  • Good for players who want Zonaite + gems simultaneously

Akkala Depths

  • Less traveled, good Zonaite clusters near the northeast Depths wall
  • Fewer enemies than Central Mine

Construct Enemies as Zonaite Source

Every Construct type in the Depths drops Zonaite on death. Don't just mine — kill everything.

| Construct Type | Zonaite Drop | |----------------|-------------| | Soldier Construct I | 1–2 | | Soldier Construct II | 2–3 | | Soldier Construct III | 3–4 | | Soldier Construct IV | 5–7 | | Captain Construct | 4–8 |

Luminous Stone Dedicated Farming

Luminous Stones are needed for the Gloom-resistant armor upgrades and can be traded at Goron City (10 Luminous = 1 Diamond, though this trade is rupee-negative).

Best Luminous Stone Spots

Kakariko Village Area (Necluda) The rocky hillsides around Kakariko contain an unusually high density of Luminous Stone nodes.

  • Work from Kakariko Village Skyview Tower area south
  • Check every rocky outcrop on the approach roads
  • Per run: 8–15 Luminous Stones

Lanayru Mountain Caves Cave interiors on Lanayru Mountain frequently spawn Luminous Stone as the primary ore type.

  • Enter each cave, clear ore nodes inside
  • Caves here often have 5–8 nodes each
  • Per run across 4–5 caves: 25–40 Luminous Stones

Depths — General Luminous Stones appear in regular Depths ore deposits throughout the map.

  • While doing Depths exploration/Zonaite runs, break all ore formations
  • Luminous Stone is common in Depths ore clusters
  • No dedicated Depths route needed — collect passively

Using Luminous Stones

Priority order:

  1. Upgrade Gloom-resistant armor (consumes 20–30 Luminous Stones total)
  2. Keep 10–20 as reserve
  3. Sell surplus at 70 rupees each

Poe Farming — Depths Currency Routes

Poes are the Depths currency. Collect them to buy Bubbulfrog-related rewards, Sage's Wills, and stat items from Bargainer Statues.

What Poes Are Used For (Priority Order)

| Cost | Item | Value | |------|------|-------| | 100 Poes | Sage's Will | Essential — boosts Sage powers | | 150 Poes | Dark Clump | Fuse material | | 400 Poes | Poe-required armor (Mystic set pieces) | Full armor set = 1,200 Poes | | 20 Poes | Arrows x5 | Only if desperate |

Total Poes needed for full completion: approximately 3,500–4,500.

Best Poe Farming Routes

Central Depths Loop (Highest Density) The central Depths under Hyrule Field has the highest concentration of wandering Poes.

  • Navigate along the main road paths in the Central Depths
  • Poes congregate near Lightroot locations
  • They flee slowly — chase them down and collect
  • Per 15-minute run: 80–150 Poes

Full Depths Exploration (Best Long-Term Method) Poes spawn in every section of the Depths. A full systematic exploration sweep collecting all Poes yields 800–1,000 Poes total (one-time until Blood Moon or real-time calendar reset).

Depths Road Network The Depths has stone road paths. Walking these paths hits Poe clusters naturally.

  • Follow the glowing road stone paths
  • Poes cluster along intersections and near Lightroots
  • Combine with Zonaite and ore farming for maximum efficiency

Poe Spawn Notes

  • Poes respawn on the real-world day reset (midnight), not just Blood Moon
  • A Poe-heavy route done daily provides a reliable 100–200 Poes per session
  • Brightbloom Seeds are essential for Poe hunting in unlit Depths

Bomb Flower Farming

Bomb Flowers are one of the most versatile combat and mining tools. They're consumed on use, so maintaining a stock is important.

Top Bomb Flower Locations

Eldin Caves and Volcanic Areas Bomb Flowers grow most prolifically in the Eldin volcanic region.

  • Every cave and grotto near Death Mountain contains Bomb Flower clusters
  • Eldin Canyon and Eldin Depths cave systems have 5–10 Bomb Flowers per cave
  • Best cave: The cave system directly north of Goron City has reliable clusters

Sky Islands (Especially Lanayru Sky) Bomb Flowers appear on certain sky islands, particularly in the eastern Lanayru sky cluster.

  • Check island platforms and cave sections on sky islands
  • Lower islands near Lanayru have consistent Bomb Flower spawns

Depths Cave Systems Caves accessed from the Depths (look for cave openings in Depths walls) contain Bomb Flowers.

Korok Forest Surroundings The caves around the Lost Woods / Korok Forest region contain Bomb Flower patches.

Efficient Bomb Flower Collection

  • Never use Bomb Flowers to mine when a fused hammer weapon does the job — preserve them for combat
  • Fusing a Bomb Flower to a shield allows a shield bash explosion — extremely powerful for breaking armor on enemies
  • Store surplus — you can hold up to 999 of any material including Bomb Flowers

Brightbloom Seed Farming

Brightbloom Seeds are essential for Depths navigation, creating light pillars that illuminate large areas. Giant Brightbloom Seeds create even larger light zones.

Best Brightbloom Seed Locations

Any Cave or Grotto (Surface) Brightbloom Seeds grow on cave walls throughout Hyrule. Every cave has 3–8 seeds growing on walls and ceilings.

  • Stop and collect every time you pass through a cave
  • Don't target specific caves — collect passively during exploration

Depths (Near Lightroots) Brightbloom Seeds often spawn near Lightroot pedestals.

  • When activating Lightroots, circle the area and collect nearby seeds

Faron Region Caves The Faron rainforest has high cave density and strong Brightbloom spawn rates.

  • Work through Faron's cave network for 30–50 seeds per session

Giant Brightbloom Seeds

Giant Brightbloom Seeds are rare versions that create a much larger light radius. Find them in:

  • Deeper cave systems
  • Depths cave openings (the caves that pierce the Depths ceiling)
  • Certain sky island caves

Target Giant Brightbloom Seeds — they're rarer but far more valuable for Depths navigation. One Giant Brightbloom illuminates more area than 5 regular ones.

Arrow Farming

Arrows are consumed at an alarming rate in combat. Maintaining a stock of 200+ of each type is ideal for late-game content.

Buying Arrows

The fastest method is simply purchasing:

  • Beedle (traveling merchant) — appears at every stable, sells standard arrows and specialty arrows in limited quantities
  • General stores in towns — Lookout Landing, Kakariko, Hateno, Goron City all sell arrows
  • Cost: ~2–8 rupees per arrow type

Farming Arrows from Enemies

Bokoblin Archers Kill Bokoblin archers (Blue Bokoblins with bows in camps) — they drop their arrows plus their bow.

  • 2–5 arrows per kill from their inventory
  • Bow camps near Eldin and Akkala have many archer Bokoblins

Blue/Black Bokoblin Arrow Camps Certain monster camps have dedicated archer platforms with stacked Bokoblins. These yield 15–30 arrows per cleared camp.

Skull Bokoblin Camps The skull-shaped Bokoblin fortresses often have archer towers. Clear the entire camp for 20–40 arrows total.

Lizalfos Archers (Necluda and Eldin) Lizalfos archers frequently carry elemental arrows. Blue Lizalfos drop Ice Arrows; Red/Yellow carry Fire/Shock Arrows.

Arrow Farming from the Environment

Monster drops after Blood Moon: Every monster camp resets. Run the same camps repeatedly post-Blood Moon for consistent arrow income.

Treasure chests in Depths and ruins: Arrow bundles (10–20 per chest) appear in many Depths and overworld chests. Mark opened chests and check new areas for unopened ones.

Fire / Ice / Shock Arrow Farming

| Arrow Type | Source | |------------|--------| | Fire Arrows | Red Lizalfos archers, Eldin region enemies, shops | | Ice Arrows | Blue Lizalfos archers, Lanayru region enemies, shops | | Shock Arrows | Yellow Lizalfos, Zora's Domain region, shops | | Bomb Arrows | Shops (expensive), rare enemy drops | | Bomb Flower Arrow | DIY — fuse a Bomb Flower to any arrow at any time |

Monster Part Farming

Monster parts fuel elixirs, weapon fusing, and armor upgrades. The most valuable parts come from elite enemies.

High-Value Monster Parts and Locations

Lynel Parts (Most Valuable)

| Part | Source | Use | |------|--------|-----| | Lynel Guts | Kill any Lynel | Elixirs, sell (100 rupees) | | Lynel Hoof | Kill any Lynel | Armor upgrades | | Lynel Mace Horn | Kill Lynel | Weapon fuse (extreme damage) | | Lynel Saber Horn | Kill Silver/Blue Lynel | Weapon fuse (highest damage) |

Lynel locations (fixed spawns, reset on Blood Moon):

  • Akkala Highlands (north Akkala) — Blue Lynel
  • Oseira Plains (Eldin region) — Red Lynel
  • North Tabantha Snowfield — White Lynel
  • Coliseum (Floating Colosseum sky island) — Silver Lynel
  • Multiple Depths Lynels with guaranteed Silver tier

Gleeok Parts

| Part | Use | |------|-----| | Gleeok Guts | Elixirs (300+ rupee value) | | Gleeok Flame Horn | Weapon fuse (fire damage) | | Gleeok Thunder Horn | Weapon fuse (shock damage) | | Gleeok Ice Horn | Weapon fuse (ice damage) |

Gleeok locations:

  • Fire Gleeok: Eldin region bridge, Akkala Citadel area
  • Thunder Gleeok: Lake Hylia area, Gerudo region
  • Ice Gleeok: Hebra/Tabantha region
  • King Gleeok (Rito Village area): drops all types

Molduga Parts

| Part | Use | |------|-----| | Molduga Guts | Best elixir booster, 4 spawns in Gerudo Desert | | Molduga Fin | Armor upgrades |

Molduga Guts combined with a Tireless Frog makes an Endura Elixir worth 350+ rupees each.

Hinox Parts

| Part | Use | |------|-----| | Hinox Guts | Elixirs (80 rupees), armor upgrades | | Hinox Tooth | Armor upgrades | | Blue Hinox Guts | Better elixirs than standard |

Hinox spawn on specific hillsides across Hyrule — there are 40+ Hinox in the game, all on fixed Blood Moon respawn cycles.

Best Monster Part Farming Loop

  1. Gerudo Desert loop: Kill all 4 Molduga (fixed positions in sand) → collect guts
  2. Depths Lynel loop: At least 10 Lynels in the Depths, all Silver tier — grind these for best weapon fuse materials
  3. Eldin Gleeok circuit: 2 Fire Gleeoks near Death Mountain — reset via Blood Moon
  4. Construct farming in Depths: Soldier Constructs drop Zonaite + monster parts simultaneously

Blood Moon Exploit — Resetting All Spawns

The Blood Moon is the universal spawn reset for all enemies, ore deposits, and materials in Tears of the Kingdom. Mastering Blood Moon timing is the foundation of all farming.

How Blood Moon Works

  • Occurs on a real-time cycle approximately every 7 days of in-game time (roughly 2.5–3 hours of real gameplay)
  • Resets ALL enemy spawns, ALL ore deposits, ALL material spawns
  • Does NOT reset inventory, quest progress, or player-placed items
  • Triggers automatically at midnight with a cutscene — cannot be prevented

Forcing a Blood Moon

You cannot force a Blood Moon directly, but you can accelerate its arrival:

  1. Camp and advance time — rest at fires or inns to skip time forward. This accumulates in-game time faster toward the Blood Moon timer.
  2. Kill enemies continuously — high enemy kill rates consume in-game time more quickly.
  3. Avoid saving and loading — Blood Moon timer is real-time based, not save-based.

Blood Moon Route Optimization

Design circular farming routes that start and end at the same warp point:

Eldin Ore + Gleeok Route:

  1. Warp to Eldin Canyon Skyview Tower
  2. Circle Death Mountain base (20–30 ore deposits)
  3. Kill Fire Gleeok on the bridge north
  4. Kill Fire Gleeok at Akkala junction
  5. Return to tower warp
  6. Wait/rest for Blood Moon

Gerudo Molduga Route:

  1. Warp to Gerudo Town
  2. Kill Molduga 1 (northwest sand)
  3. Kill Molduga 2 (northeast sand)
  4. Kill Molduga 3 (center-south sand)
  5. Kill Molduga 4 (far southeast)
  6. Cook all Guts + Tireless Frogs → Endura Elixirs
  7. Blood Moon reset → repeat

Depths Lynel Route:

  1. Enter Depths via Central Hyrule chasm
  2. Navigate to Lynel clusters using Lightroot network
  3. Kill 3–5 Lynels per session
  4. Collect all drops + Zonaite + ore
  5. Surface, sell/process materials
  6. Return post-Blood Moon

Daily Reset Tips

Several resources reset on a real-world daily timer rather than (or in addition to) Blood Moon.

Daily Reset Resources

Poes Poes in the Depths partially respawn on the daily real-time reset (approximately midnight local time or server time). A focused Poe route done once per day provides consistent Bargainer Statue currency.

Stable NPC Resources Some stable-area merchants refresh their stock daily. Check Beedle's inventory at stables once per real-world day for restocked arrows and materials.

Dispensers and Treasure Zonai Device Dispensers on sky islands and in the Depths can be used once per real-world or in-game day cycle. Stock up on Zonaite Charges and devices regularly.

General Farming Efficiency Tips

  1. Fuse before you mine — always have a fused rock hammer weapon ready before starting an ore run. Unfused weapons waste durability.

  2. Mark your Blood Moon — when a Blood Moon occurs, immediately start your highest-priority farming route while all spawns are fresh.

  3. Layer your routes — combine Zonaite mining with ore farming with Poe collection in the Depths. One Depths run can net all three simultaneously.

  4. Caves first — cave interiors often have denser resource spawns than the surface. Check every cave entrance you pass.

  5. Sell smart — never sell Dragon parts or rare critters. Sell Flint and Amber surplus freely. Hold Opal and Luminous Stones until armor upgrades are complete, then sell.

  6. Cook before selling — raw mushrooms and critters are worth less than their cooked equivalents. Always cook surplus critters into elixirs before selling.

  7. Full inventory discipline — sort your material inventory regularly. Drop/sell low-value materials (Flint, common rocks) to make room for high-value drops.

  8. Sky Island pass-throughs — every time you ascend through a sky island en route somewhere, collect Brightbloom Seeds and any ore nodes visible. Free materials on a route you're taking anyway.

Farming Priority Order by Game Stage

Early Game (First 10 Hours)

  1. Bomb Flowers — stock at least 30 before leaving Great Sky Island area
  2. Brightbloom Seeds — 50+ before entering the Depths
  3. Basic arrows — 100+ of standard arrows from Beedle at stables
  4. Ore farming in Eldin — start building gem stockpile

Mid Game (After 3 Temples)

  1. Zonaite — prioritize battery upgrades at Crystal Refinery
  2. Luminous Stones — collect for Gloom armor upgrades
  3. Lynel parts — upgrade weapons for endgame content
  4. Poes — unlock Sage's Will upgrades (100 Poes each, need 8 total)

Late Game / Post-Main Quest

  1. Diamonds and premium gems — sell surplus for final armor upgrade funding
  2. Gleeok and Lynel parts — maximize weapon fusion power
  3. Full Depths sweeps — clear remaining Lightroots and Poe clusters
  4. Blood Moon farming loops — optimize for maximum rupee-per-hour
