Enemy Weakness Chart: Every Enemy's Weak Point in TotK
Enemy Weakness Chart — Tears of the Kingdom
Knowing what each enemy is weak to dramatically reduces combat difficulty. This guide covers elemental weaknesses, structural weak points, physical vulnerabilities, and optimal combat strategies for every major enemy category in Hyrule.
How Weaknesses Work in TotK
Elemental damage applies when you hit an enemy with a fire, ice, or shock weapon or arrow:
- Fire — ignites organic enemies, melts ice armor, deals bonus damage to ice-type enemies
- Ice — freezes enemies solid for a hit-bonus window, deals bonus damage to fire-type enemies
- Shock — paralyzes metal-equipped enemies, stuns electric-vulnerable enemies, deals bonus damage to water-standing enemies
Weak points are specific body locations where damage is multiplied regardless of weapon type:
- Most bosses have a glowing or exposed point that takes full damage
- Humanoid enemies take headshot bonus damage from arrows
- Back attacks (including sneak attacks and back slices) deal 3× base damage on the first strike

Constructs (Zonai)
Constructs appear in shrines and sky islands. All Constructs share a key weakness: the glowing core on their chest takes 2× damage from any attack.
| Enemy | Fire | Ice | Shock | Weak Point | Notes | |-------|:----:|:---:|:-----:|-----------|-------| | Soldier Construct I | — | — | — | Chest core | Basic shrine construct | | Soldier Construct II | — | — | — | Chest core | Faster attack speed | | Soldier Construct III | — | — | — | Chest core | Uses shields | | Soldier Construct IV | — | — | — | Chest core | Elite — parry timing needed | | Captain Construct I | — | — | — | Chest core | Melee + ranged hybrid | | Captain Construct II | — | — | — | Chest core | | | Captain Construct III | — | — | — | Chest core | | | Captain Construct IV | — | — | — | Chest core | Highest construct HP | | Flux Construct I | — | — | — | Glowing core block | Core migrates between forms | | Flux Construct II | — | — | — | Glowing core block | Three phases | | Flux Construct III | — | — | — | Glowing core block | Extremely high HP |
Flux Construct strategy: The core block glows and appears in three distinct positions — ground stack form, floating wall form, and rolling cube form. In each form, use the appropriate ability to isolate the core (Ultrahand to pull it free), then attack repeatedly. Recall is useful during the projectile phase.
Miniature Bosses (Field Encounters)
Stone Talus Family
| Variant | Fire | Ice | Shock | Weak Point | |---------|:----:|:---:|:-----:|-----------| | Stone Talus | — | — | — | Ore deposit (back/top) | | Luminous Stone Talus | — | — | — | Ore deposit (top) | | Rare Talus | — | — | — | Ore deposit (top) | | Battle Talus | — | — | — | Ore deposit (back) | | Ice Talus | Fire ✓ | — | — | Ore deposit (back) | | Fire Talus | — | Ice ✓ | — | Ore deposit (back) | | Electric Talus | — | — | — | Ore deposit (non-electric) |
Talus strategy: Climb onto the Talus body, run to the ore deposit on its back, and attack with your strongest fused weapon. Two-handed weapons deal the most damage per hit. The Talus shakes at ~50% HP — jump off, wait for it to reset, then climb again. Iron Sledgehammer + Silver Lynel Saber Horn is the optimal Talus weapon.
The Battle Talus is a special variant — it carries a platform of Bokoblins on its back. Clear the Bokoblins with arrows first, then mount and attack the ore deposit.
Hinox Family
| Variant | Fire | Ice | Shock | Weak Point | |---------|:----:|:---:|:-----:|-----------| | Red Hinox | — | — | — | Eye | | Blue Hinox | — | — | — | Eye | | Black Hinox | — | — | — | Eye | | Stalnox | — | — | — | Eye (in socket or on ground) |
Hinox strategy: Arrow to the eye while it's open → massive damage. When the Hinox kneels after an eye hit, the eye detaches and lies on the ground — attack it directly for the highest damage window in the fight. The eye is open approximately 40% of the time. Bomb arrows stagger it mid-attack chain.
Stalnox strategy: The Stalnox only appears at night (or in designated Depths/shrine arenas). Its eye is smaller and moves faster than a living Hinox. Use a powerful bow with close-range arrows. When the eye falls out on the ground phase, switch to a bone-fused weapon with the Radiant Set active for triple bone-damage multiplier.
Gleeok Family
| Variant | Fire | Ice | Shock | Heads/Eyes | Notes | |---------|:----:|:---:|:-----:|-----------|-------| | Fire Gleeok | — | Ice ✓✓ | — | Eyes | Ice arrows → phase 2: all heads | | Frost Gleeok | Fire ✓✓ | — | — | Eyes | Fire arrows → phase 2: all heads | | Thunder Gleeok | — | — | — | Eyes (non-electric) | Regular arrows phase 1; non-shock phase 2 | | King Gleeok | All ✓ | All ✓ | All ✓ | Center eye | Three-head variant; any element works |
Gleeok strategy: Phase 1 — shoot heads with the weakness element to knock them to ground, attack the exposed heads on the ground with a strong weapon. Phase 2 — Gleeok becomes airborne. Use bullet-time arrows (paraglider + aim) to shoot eyes. Ice arrows freeze a Fire Gleeok mid-air, causing it to plummet. A construct bow or Lynel bow with multi-shot makes phase 2 faster.
King Gleeok is fought at Highland Stable ruin area and Colosseum. All three elements work — use whatever elemental arrows you have most of. The center eye is the highest-damage weak point in phase 2.
Frox Family
| Variant | Fire | Ice | Shock | Weak Point | |---------|:----:|:---:|:-----:|-----------| | Frox | — | — | — | Glowing eyes | | Obsidian Frox | — | — | — | Glowing eyes | | Blue-White Frox | — | — | — | Glowing eyes |
Frox strategy: Frox appear exclusively in the Depths. They burrow underground and surface to swallow bomb flowers or Link. The weak point is the pair of glowing eyes on top of the head — bomb arrows and headshot arrows deal full damage. When the Frox opens its mouth to burrow, throw a bomb flower in for massive internal explosion damage. Blue-White Frox drop the best Frox materials.
Molduga
| Variant | Fire | Ice | Shock | Weak Point | |---------|:----:|:---:|:-----:|-----------| | Molduga | — | — | — | Body after surface stun | | Molduking | — | — | — | Body after surface stun |
Molduga strategy: Throw a bomb flower onto the sand to lure Molduga to the surface. When it launches out, detonate it with an arrow mid-air → stun. Attack with your strongest weapon during the stun window. The stun lasts about 4 seconds. Repeat 4–5 times. Molduking has doubled HP — use 80+ attack weapons.
Lynel Family
| Variant | Fire | Ice | Shock | Weak Point | |---------|:----:|:---:|:-----:|-----------| | Red Lynel | — | — | — | Head (mount) | | Blue Lynel | — | — | — | Head (mount) | | White-Maned Lynel | — | — | — | Head (mount) | | Silver Lynel | — | — | — | Head (mount) | | Gloom Lynel | — | — | — | Head (mount) |
Lynel strategy — no elemental weakness. Most efficient method:
- Stun the head with an arrow (any type) → Lynel drops to one knee
- Mount the Lynel (press A when on its back)
- Spam attack while mounted — consume no weapon durability during mount phase
- Dismount before it bucks you off, dodge the swing, Flurry Rush
- Repeat
Flurry Rush windows: Lynel charge (dodge sideways), Lynel slam (dodge sideways), Lynel swing (dodge backward). Each successful dodge triggers bullet-time Flurry Rush.
Silver and Gloom Lynels have 3× the HP of Blue Lynels. Bring three 80+ attack weapons and a bow with 30 arrows. Best prep: Silver Lynel Saber Horn + Lynel Crusher (133 attack) + Attack Up Lv 3 food.
Gloom Hands & Phantom Ganon
| Enemy | Fire | Ice | Shock | Weak Point | |-------|:----:|:---:|:-----:|-----------| | Gloom Hands | — | — | — | Any (hard to stagger) | | Phantom Ganon | — | — | — | Direct combat |
Gloom Hands strategy: Six hands emerge from the ground and pursue Link. Bomb arrows scatter them. Tulin's Gust creates safe distance. The fastest kill: a bomb arrow to the center of the cluster ignites all six simultaneously → hit any exposed gloom appendage with a strong weapon. If you flee the encounter area they despawn.
When all six Gloom Hands are killed, Phantom Ganon spawns. It fights like a powerful Lynel without the mounting mechanic — similar dodge timings, similar flurry rush opportunities. Bring 2+ high-attack weapons for the combo.
Depths-Exclusive Enemies
| Enemy | Fire | Ice | Shock | Weak Point | Notes | |-------|:----:|:---:|:-----:|-----------|-------| | Gloom Hands | — | — | — | Arms | Same as surface | | Gibdo (Depths) | — | — | Shock ✓ | Any (water first) | Sidon's bubble removes shield | | Stalnox (Depths) | — | — | — | Eye | Bone weapons + Radiant Set | | Black Hinox (Depths) | — | — | — | Eye | | | Silver Bokoblin (Depths) | — | — | — | Head | Gloom-infused variant | | Frox (all variants) | — | — | — | Eyes | |
All Depths enemies follow the same elemental rules as their surface counterparts. The difference: Depths enemies are immune to the Gloom floor damage that affects Link, and most have higher HP than standard versions.
Temple Boss Weaknesses
| Boss | Temple | Weak Element | Weak Point | Key Strategy | |------|--------|:------------:|-----------|--------------| | Colgera | Wind Temple | — | Underbelly ice patches | Bullet-time arrows from paraglider | | Marbled Gohma | Fire Temple | Shock | Eye (all phases) | Shock arrows to eye; Yunobo charge | | Mucktorok | Water Temple | — | Shark body (slime off first) | Sidon's water to remove slime shell | | Queen Gibdo | Lightning Temple | Shock | Body (after Riju lightning) | Riju circle + arrows to exposed body | | Seized Construct | Spirit Temple | — | Core (each limb phase) | Mineru's punch attacks + bow | | Demon King (Phase 1) | Hyrule Castle | — | Multiple Phantom Ganons | Sages' combined abilities | | Demon Dragon | Final Boss | — | Gloom nodules on head | Light Dragon + Master Sword |
Headshot Multipliers
Most humanoid enemies take headshot bonus damage from arrows. Approximate multipliers:
| Enemy Type | Headshot Multiplier | |-----------|-------------------| | Bokoblin | 2× damage | | Moblin | 2× damage | | Lizalfos | 2× damage | | Horriblin (grounded) | 2× damage | | Lynel | Stun (mount opportunity) | | Hinox | 4× damage (eye direct hit) | | Stalnox | 4× damage (eye direct hit) | | Construct | 1.5× (core hit) |
Sneak Attack & Back Attack Chart
| Attack Type | Damage Multiplier | Notes | |------------|:----------------:|-------| | Sneak attack (undetected) | 8× | Crouch + attack from behind without alert | | Back slice | 3× first hit | Dodge + attack from behind after enemy swings | | Flurry Rush | ~5× total | Multiple hits during bullet time | | Mounted attack | No durability cost | Lynel/horse mount attacks free | | Bullet-time arrow | No multiplier | But stuns most enemies on headshot |
Armor Penetration — Armored Variants
Some enemies wear armor that must be removed before efficient damage:
Armored Bokoblins — Wearing bone helms or metal caps. Knock the helm off with:
- Jump attack (A + B) — physics knock
- Flurry Rush first hit — often strips helm
- Bomb arrow to face — always removes helm
Black Lizalfos — Scale armor on torso. Back attacks bypass scales entirely — always try to hit from behind.
Silver enemies (all types) — ~3× base HP vs. red variants. No special armor, just massive HP pool. Use highest-attack fuse combinations. Silver Lynel Saber Horn (+55) on any strong base weapon is mandatory for efficient silver enemy farming.
Gibdo invincibility — The white shield aura on Gibdos makes them immune to all damage. Remove it instantly with: water (Sidon's bubble, Splash Fruit arrow, Zora Armor rain), then attack freely with shock arrows for massive damage.
Elemental Arrow Crafting Quick Reference
Make all elemental arrows on the fly by fusing materials:
| Element | Cheap Source | Premium Source | |---------|-------------|---------------| | Fire | Fire Fruit (common plants) | Dinraal Scale (+18 atk) | | Ice | Ice Fruit (cold areas) | Naydra Scale (+18 atk) | | Shock | Shock Fruit (Lightning Temple area) | Farosh Scale (+18 atk) | | Fire explosion | Red ChuChu Jelly | — | | Ice freeze | White ChuChu Jelly | — | | Shock paralysis | Yellow ChuChu Jelly | — | | Bomb | Bomb Flower | — | | Homing | Aerocuda Eyeball | — |
Keep 20+ of each elemental arrow type at all times. Fire Fruit plants respawn with each Blood Moon — farm the Akkala area for reliable Fire Fruit clusters.
Enemy-Specific One-Hit Strategies
| Enemy | One-Hit or Near-One-Hit Method | |-------|-------------------------------| | ChuChu (any) | Opposite element arrow | | Keese (any) | Single arrow any type | | Horriblin | Arrow from ceiling to ground + heavy attack | | Stalkoblin/Stalmoblin | Bone weapon + Radiant Set active | | Fire/Ice/Thunder Wizzrobe | Single element-opposite arrow during charge animation | | Gibdo (after water) | Shock arrow to body | | Stone Talus (small) | 3-4 heavy attacks to ore deposit | | ChuChu cluster | One bomb flower in center chains explosion | | Bokoblin sleeping | Sneak attack (8× multiplier) |
Tips for Efficient Enemy Farming
- Blood Moon timing: All enemies respawn at midnight on a Blood Moon night. Farm Lynels, Taluses, and Gleeoks right after a Blood Moon for maximum material yield.
- Silver enemy scaling: Silver enemies appear after a certain threshold of in-game progress. Once they spawn, all enemy variants in that area upgrade — plan farming routes accordingly.
- Sage abilities for crowd control: Tulin's Gust staggers light enemies; Yunobo's Charge stuns medium enemies; Riju's lightning hits multiple enemies in the circle; Sidon's water removes Gibdo invincibility.
- Depths vs Surface farming: Depths Frox, Gibdo, and Hinox spawn near Lightroots at fixed positions — more predictable than surface encounters. Use Lightroot fast travel to efficiently loop through farming positions.
- Octorok repair trick: Rock Octoroks (Eldin region) inhale weapons and spit them back repaired. Let one swallow a worn weapon to reset its durability — fuse materials survive the repair.
