Flux Construct Guide — All Forms, Weak Points & Sky Island Locations
Flux Construct Guide — Zonai Cube Golems
Flux Constructs are Zonai-built combat machines found on sky islands and in the Depths — giant beings made of assembled cubes with one glowing core cube that's the only vulnerable point. This guide covers all 3 Construct variants, combat strategy, and all locations.
What Is a Flux Construct?
A Flux Construct is a combat-oriented Zonai machine assembled from dozens of interlocking cubes. It has three fight forms that it cycles through during the encounter. The glowing cube in its assembled structure is the only weak point — all other cubes are immune to damage.
Reward for defeating it: Zonai materials and a specific upgrade component for the Purah Pad.
The Three Flux Construct Forms
Form 1 — Floating Cube Wall
The Construct arranges itself as a large flat wall of cubes floating vertically.
Weak point: One cube in the wall glows green.
How to hit it:
- Fire arrows at the glowing cube (easiest to spot from a distance)
- Or Ultrahand the glowing cube out of the wall → grab and yank it free → the Construct destabilizes
- A destabilized Construct drops all its cubes → now melee the core cube rapidly on the ground
Visual tell: The glowing cube glints differently from the others — look for the green glow.
Form 2 — Ground Slam Platform
The Construct assembles itself as a wide flat platform sliding along the ground, slamming into Link.
Weak point: Same glowing cube, now embedded in the platform surface.
How to hit it:
- Stand on the edge of the platform as it slides → wait for the glowing cube to pass under you → jump and shoot arrow at it
- Or Ultrahand the glowing cube from the platform surface → yank it → Construct collapses → melee
The slam attack: The platform tries to run Link over. Jump over it (time your jump as it slides toward you) or sprint to the side.
Form 3 — Humanoid Form
The Construct assembles into a bipedal humanoid shape and attacks with punching and stomping.
Weak point: Glowing cube is in the torso area (front-facing).
How to hit it:
- Shoot the glowing cube with arrows (easiest in humanoid form — torso is visible)
- After arrow hits: Construct staggers → melee window briefly
- Ultrahand the cube from its chest → humanoid collapses → full melee burst on grounded core
Punch dodge: The humanoid form's punch has a wide arc. Backflip dodge or sidestep as its arm extends.
Combat Strategy
General Approach
Ultrahand is the intended tool:
- Lock on to the glowing cube with Ultrahand
- Yank it out of whatever formation the Construct is currently in
- The Construct collapses to the ground in cube pieces
- Sprint to the glowing core cube (it's on the ground, still glowing)
- Melee combo until the Construct reassembles
- Repeat
Why this works better than arrows: Yanking the core destabilizes the entire Construct and gives you a free melee window. Arrow damage to the core is effective but slower.
Cycle Pattern
Flux Constructs cycle through all 3 forms sequentially. Each form transition gives you a brief window to attack. At lower HP, the cycle speeds up.
Pattern:
- Form 1 (Wall) → attack → collapses → Form 2 (Platform) → attack → collapses → Form 3 (Humanoid) → attack → repeat faster as HP drops
High-Damage Burst Window
After yanking the core cube to the ground:
- Use your strongest Fused melee weapon
- 3-5 strong hits per grounded phase before reassembly
- A Lynel Horn Fused weapon maximizes damage per hit
Flux Construct Variants
| Variant | HP | Strength | Found | |---------|-----|---------|-------| | Flux Construct I | Low | Basic | Great Sky Island, beginning areas | | Flux Construct II | Medium | Stronger | Mid-game sky islands, upper Depths | | Flux Construct III | High | Advanced | Late-game sky islands, deep Depths |
Higher-tier Constructs have faster form transitions, more aggressive attacks, and larger melee windows require better weapons.
All Flux Construct Locations
Sky Island Locations
- Great Sky Island — Flux Construct I (tutorial encounter)
- North Sky Island Archipelago — Flux Construct II
- East Sky Islands (above Lanayru) — Flux Construct I and II
- Thunderhead Isles sky platforms — Flux Construct II
- West Tabantha sky islands — Flux Construct III
Depths Locations
Flux Constructs in the Depths are always Flux Construct III (highest tier):
- Central Depths Mine — near the Autobuild upgrade
- North Depths — below Eldin
- East Depths — below Akkala
Rewards
| Drop | Use | |------|-----| | Construct Horn | Upgrade material for Purah Pad | | Flux Construct Core | Rare material — some armor upgrades | | Zonaite | Depths Construct variant drops | | Zonai Charges | Random device drops on defeat |
Construct Horn is specifically used in the Purah Pad upgrade chain — you need one from each tier (I, II, III) to complete all upgrades.
Blood Moon respawn: All Flux Constructs respawn. Their locations are fixed.
Quick Tips
- Ultrahand over arrows — yanking the core cube is faster than whittling it down with arrows. Each Ultrahand yank gives you a free melee window that deals more damage than 5+ arrow hits.
- Watch for form transitions — when the Construct shifts form, the cubes briefly scatter before reassembling. The core cube is visible and vulnerable during the 2-second transition. Capitalize on this.
- Zoom in to spot the glow — in the Wall and Platform forms, the glowing cube can be hard to identify amid similar-looking cubes. Zoom in with the bow's aim mode to spot it quickly.
- Flux Construct III needs strong weapons — don't fight Construct III with weak weapons. Its HP pool means you need several melee windows of high damage. Bring top-tier Fused weapons.
- Purah Pad upgrade priority — each Flux Construct tier drops the Horn needed for one Purah Pad upgrade. Defeating Construct I, II, and III at least once gives you all required Horn materials.
