Named Caves Guide — Every Region Covered

TotK has over 140 named caves spread across Hyrule's surface. Each one contains at least a Bubbulfrog (tradeable with Koltin for Bubbul Gems), and most hold ore deposits, enemy camps, and hidden treasure chests. This guide organizes them by region with what to expect inside.

Cave Basics

What every cave contains:

  • 1 Bubbulfrog — always present, sometimes hidden behind obstacles. Trade gems with Koltin near Woodland Stable for armor, masks, and Mystic Set pieces.
  • Ore deposits — Amber, Opal, Topaz, Ruby, Sapphire, Diamond nodes depending on region.
  • Enemy camp — Bokoblins, Lizalfos, Horriblins, or Moblins usually guard the main chamber.
  • Treasure chest — Most caves have at least one chest, often behind the enemy group.

Cave entrance tips:

  • Entrances glow with a faint blue light visible from 50–100m away at night.
  • Set Sensor+ (Robbie's Purah Pad upgrade) to ping for cave icons — best cave-finding tool.
  • Caves appear on your map as a small icon once you're within ~50m.
  • Most cave Bubbulfrogs are in the deepest chamber — clear enemies first or sneak past.

Miner's Set bonus: Equipping any piece of the Miner's Set provides ambient glow in dark caves. The full 3-piece set creates a large glow radius that makes Brightbloom Seeds unnecessary in most cave depths.

Central Hyrule Caves

Coliseum Ruins Cave

Coordinates: -666, -788 | Region: Central Hyrule

One of the best early weapon-scavenging caves. The Coliseum above is dangerous at low levels, but the cave entrance is on the north side and leads to chambers with Knight's Broadswords, Royal Bows, and Royal Guard equipment left by soldiers who sheltered underground during the Calamity. A Bubbulfrog is in the deepest chamber past the main enemy room.

Key drops: Knight's Broadsword, Royal Bow, Knight's Shield, Bubbul Gem

Guchini Plain Cave

Coordinates: -1543, -1012 | Region: Central Hyrule

A wide cave with multiple surface entrances from the Guchini Plain. Moblin groups have fortified the interior. Multiple entry/exit points make it easy to escape if overwhelmed. Bubbulfrog in an alcove above the Moblin leader's area — check the upper ledge.

Key drops: Moblin Horn, Moblin Fang, Moblin Guts, Bubbul Gem

Hyrule Castle Moat Cave

Coordinates: -250, -1400 | Region: Central Hyrule

A partially flooded cave beneath the Hyrule Castle outer moat. Water levels vary. Provides an unconventional access route into the castle from below — useful for players who want to avoid the main approach. Gloom contamination increases as you go deeper toward the castle foundation. Bubbulfrog is in a side alcove before the flooded lower section.

Key drops: Pre-Calamity treasure, Bubbul Gem, Gloom-resistant materials

Hyrule Ridge Cave

Coordinates: Various | Region: Central Hyrule

Located in the Hyrule Ridge area west of Hyrule Castle. Standard cave with Bokoblin occupation and an ore cluster. Good for collecting consistent Amber and Opal nodes during Hyrule Ridge traversal.

Necluda Caves

Kakariko Cave

Coordinates: Near Kakariko Village | Region: Necluda

The local cave for Kakariko Village travelers. Accessible from the hillside north of the village. Horriblins and basic ore deposits. Bubbulfrog is near a water trickle in the back. Check the upper ledge for a chest with decent early-game equipment.

Tanagar Canyon Cave

Coordinates: 1356, -548 | Region: Necluda

Cut into the dramatic walls of Tanagar Canyon. Bokoblin camps with active fires occupy the main chamber. A hidden back room requires defeating or bypassing the camp boss — inside is a high-value chest (often a 3-star weapon or armor piece). Bubbulfrogs nest in the upper side passages, away from the camp noise.

Pro tip: Use Stealth Armor or Sneakstrike to clear the camp quickly, then explore the back passages freely.

Key drops: High-tier weapon/armor chest, Bubbul Gem

Ukuku Plain Cave

Coordinates: 1612, -312 | Region: Necluda

Deceptively large for its entrance size. Multiple corridors with Bokoblin and Lizalfos factions fighting each other — let them weaken each other before engaging. The central chamber has a large treasure chest worth opening. Bubbulfrog at the back of the deepest branch.

Key drops: Luminous Stone, Zora materials, Bubbul Gem (post-Water Temple)

Spool Bight Cave

Coordinates: 2453, -785 | Region: Lanayru

Cave Farming Routes by Goal

Bubbul Gem farming (fastest route)

Prioritize caves by proximity to your active travel path. Keep a running list of uncleared caves in each region and hit them during regional questlines — you'll naturally clear most caves while doing main content.

Diamond farming

Top caves: Hebra Snowfield Cave, Pikida Stonegrove Cave, Mount Granajh Cave, Akkala Highlands Cave These four caves consistently yield Diamond ore from ice-locked deposits. Bring fire weapons or Bomb Flowers to melt ice nodes.

Ruby / Fire ore farming

Top caves: Eldin Canyon Cave, Crenel Hills Cave, Eldin Canyon Road Cave All in the Eldin region. Combine with Goron City quest content.

Brightbloom Seed farming

Top caves: Suthorn Cave (Faron), Dracozu River Cave (Faron), Korok Forest Lost Cave (Woodland) Farm these before any major Depths expedition. Suthorn Cave gives the highest density.

Bone material farming (Radiant Set bonus)

Top cave: Eldin Great Skeleton Cave The only cave with bone walls where Radiant Set bonus is relevant. Extraordinarily efficient with full Radiant Set equipped.

Pre-Depths Akkala approach prep

Clear the Akkala Mine Cave (Zonaite) and Akkala Sea Cliff Cave (weapons) before descending via the Akkala Citadel Chasm.

Bubbul Gem Exchange — Koltin's Rewards

Trade Bubbul Gems with Koltin (found near Woodland Stable and later near Tarrey Town) for these rewards:

| Gems | Reward | |------|--------| | 3 | Bokoblin Mask | | 5 | Lizalfos Mask | | 7 | Lynel Mask | | 10 | Radiant Mask | | 15 | Radiant Shirt | | 20 | Radiant Tights | | 24 | Mystic Mask | | 36 | Mystic Robe | | 49 | Mystic Tights | | 61 | Evil Spirit Mask |

Total Bubbulfrogs in TotK: 147 (one per cave). Completing all 147 rewards Koltin's final item and a unique recognition.

Caves reset after a Blood Moon — ore nodes regrow and enemies respawn, allowing repeated farming from the same caves.
