Arancia Shrine
Arancia Shrine — Ice & Fire Puzzle
Location: Hebra Mountains, northwestern Hyrule Type: Puzzle Shrine Difficulty: Medium Coordinates: -2924, 3501, 0218 Reward: Light of Blessing
Overview
Arancia Shrine sits high in the Hebra Mountains amid bitter cold and ancient ice formations. The shrine tests your mastery of fire-meets-ice mechanics — using heat to melt frozen barriers and thinking carefully about the order in which you melt things. Rushing melts the wrong ice and cuts off your path.
Preparation
Before crossing Hebra's surface to reach the shrine:
- Snowquill Set (Rito Village, Brazen Beak shop) — full set provides Level 2 Cold Resistance
- Spicy Elixirs — craft from Warm Darner + any monster part, each lasts ~4 minutes
- Fire Arrows (×10–15) — buy from Rito Village general store or farm from Fire-Breath Lizalfos
- Fire Fruit (×5+) — fuse to any arrow for the same effect as Fire Arrows; found near volcanic regions
- Flint (×3+) — strike against hard stone for emergency fire sources inside the shrine
Cold resistance is not needed inside the shrine itself — only during the outdoor approach.
Walkthrough
Step 1: Melt the Entry Ice Wall
The entrance corridor is sealed by a thick ice wall. Use a Fire Arrow aimed at the center — it melts in 3–4 seconds. One arrow is sufficient. Fire Fruit fused to any arrow works identically and is a good alternative if you're conserving Fire Arrows.
Step 2: Ice Block Platform Puzzle (Room 2)
The second room contains a water channel with large ice blocks floating in it. A wooden plank rests on top of the leftmost block. Your destination is a raised ledge on the far side.
Order of operations is critical — do this in sequence:
- Use Ultrahand to grab the wooden plank before melting any ice
- Set the plank safely on the near edge platform
- Melt the ice block on the right side of the channel — this shifts the water level and exposes a ledge anchor point
- Use Ultrahand to extend the plank horizontally from the near edge across to the upper ledge
- Walk across the plank bridge to the elevated area
Common mistake: Melting all ice blocks first causes the plank to drop into the water below. It's still retrievable with Ultrahand but requires awkward overhead fishing from the rim — save yourself the hassle and grab the plank first.
Step 3: The Frozen Gate
A gate sealed with an ice lock blocks the mid-shrine corridor. A lit torch hangs in a wall bracket to the gate's left.
- Ultrahand approach: Grab the torch from its bracket and hold it against the ice lock — the heat melts it in approximately 5 seconds and the gate swings open
- Fire Arrow approach: One arrow aimed directly at the ice lock on the gate hinge melts it instantly
Either approach works. Leave the torch accessible — you may want it for the next room.
Step 4: Final Ice Dome (Room 3)
The final chamber holds a large ice dome that encases the altar staircase. The dome is hollow — fire aimed at the base perimeter causes structural collapse that exposes the stairs cleanly without burying them.
- Fire 3 arrows in an arc around the base of the dome
- The dome destabilizes and collapses inward, revealing the staircase
- If sections remain, target the thickest remaining portion with one more arrow
Chest location: Before triggering the dome collapse, look left of the altar entrance — a chest is frozen into the wall. One fire arrow frees it. Claim the chest contents before collapsing the dome to avoid navigating rubble.
Step 5: Collect Your Blessing
Climb the exposed stairs to Rauru's altar and collect your Light of Blessing.
Chest Summary
| Chest | Location | Contents | |-------|----------|----------| | Frozen wall chest | Left wall of final chamber, frozen in | Ice Arrows ×5 |
Tips & Strategy
- Order matters in Room 2 — grab the plank before melting the ice it rests on or you'll fish it out of water
- Conserve fire arrows — only 4–6 total are needed; don't spray fire carelessly
- Cold resistance isn't required inside — only crossing the outdoor Hebra surface requires warmth
- Flint + rock = emergency fire for small ice obstructions if you run short on arrows
- Plan each melt — ice cannot be un-melted; think before you fire
