Disisan Shrine
Disisan Shrine — The Goron's Forge
Location: Eldin region, Death Mountain eastern approach Coordinates: (2614, 2128, 0264) Type: Puzzle Shrine Difficulty: Medium
Overview
Disisan Shrine draws thematically from the Goron tradition of mining and metalworking — its puzzles involve moving ore carts along rail tracks, activating forge-like mechanisms, and timing the movement of hot metal objects. The shrine feels like a miniature Goron Mine, with glowing ore, rail carts, and the ambient sound of volcanic heat throughout. It's one of the most thematically immersive shrines in the Eldin region, capturing the Goron people's industrial relationship with Death Mountain's resources.
Preparation
- Flamebreaker Armor or Fireproof Elixirs — the Eldin exterior is continuously hot
- Basic Ultrahand for moving ore carts and mechanisms
- No weapons required — entirely puzzle focused
- The shrine interior is hot but not immediately lethal — Flamebreaker Armor is strongly recommended
- Stock Fireproof Elixirs from the Goron City shop before attempting this shrine
Walkthrough
Step 1: Ore Cart Launch
The first room has an ore cart on a rail track and a pressure plate switch at the end of the track. The cart must reach the switch under its own momentum. Use Ultrahand to pull the cart backward on the track (against the natural slope), then release — gravity carries it down the rail and it strikes the pressure plate. Gate opens.
Step 2: Cart Junction Routing
The second room has a Y-junction in the rail track with two possible exits — one leads to a dead end, the other to the switch. A rail switch lever near the junction determines which track the cart follows. Activate the lever (it's a small orange handle) before releasing the cart. The lever sends the cart to the correct track. Gate two opens.
Step 3: Hot Ore Carrying
The third puzzle requires carrying a piece of glowing hot ore (a small metal ingot) from a furnace on the left to a socket on the right without dropping it. The ore is too hot to carry by hand — use Ultrahand at a slight distance (2 meters) to avoid the proximity heat effect. Navigate the ore carefully across the room, avoiding the pit in the center, and place it in the socket. The socket accepts hot ore only — a cold ore piece placed first won't work.
Step 4: Cart Chain
The final room has three carts that must activate three switches in sequence — the door only opens when all three are active simultaneously. Release cart A toward switch 1, then immediately release cart B toward switch 2, then cart C toward switch 3. The carts' travel times are calibrated so they all arrive within the simultaneous window if released in quick succession. Release each cart no more than 1 second apart.
Step 5: Altar
The final gate opens when all three switches are active. The altar is at the track terminus. Collect your Light of Blessing. The chest contains Flamebreaker Armor (torso piece) — extremely useful if you haven't completed the Flamebreaker set.
Tips
- The gravity slope in Step 1 requires pulling the cart back at least 3 rail sections for enough momentum to hit the plate
- The rail switch lever in Step 2 must be activated before the cart is released — check the position of the lever first
- Hot ore distance-carry in Step 3: 2 meters is safe; closer than 1 meter causes heat damage even with Flamebreaker Armor
- Cart chain timing in Step 4: release A, B, C at 0.8-second intervals — too slow and the first switch deactivates before C arrives
- Goron City sells Fireproof Elixirs at reasonable prices — stock up before starting Eldin region shrine runs
Nearby Points of Interest
- Goron City — west, full services including Elixir shop and Yunobo questline
- Death Mountain Summit — north, Eldin Skyview Tower and highest elevation in the region
- Eldin Depths Chasm — below the mountain, access to the Goron Mine Depths area
- Goron Hot Spring — near Goron City, heals Link and provides fire-resistance buffs
