Joku-u Shrine
Joku-u Shrine — Quick Exit
Location: Sky Islands, above Akkala / northeast Hyrule Ability Required: Ultrahand Difficulty: Medium — rocket launch and aerial navigation puzzle
Overview
Joku-u Shrine is built around rocket-powered launches. You'll attach rockets to platforms, boards, and yourself (via shield surfing) to reach ascending platforms and bypass tall walls. Fast-paced and vertical — bring your sense of adventure.
Preparation
- Paraglider is mandatory
- No combat
- Takes 6–10 minutes
- Fire resistant gear helps slightly (rockets emit fire exhaust)
Walkthrough
Room 1 — First Launch
- A flat board sits on the floor. Two rockets are mounted on the wall nearby.
- Use Ultrahand to attach one rocket to the bottom of the board.
- Stand on the board and activate the rocket — you launch straight up. Grab the ledge above or open your Paraglider at the apex to drift to the side platform.
Room 2 — Double Rocket Board
- The second platform is higher than a single rocket can reach.
- Attach two rockets to the board (one front-center, one back-center).
- Double-rocket launch reaches the platform above. Time your Paraglider deployment for a soft landing.
Room 3 — Rocket Shield Surfing
- In the final room, the altar is behind a tall wall with no obvious footholds.
- Find the rocket on the ground. Equip your shield, then use Ultrahand to attach the rocket to the back of your shield.
- Drop into a shield surf stance (ZL + A while standing still) and activate the rocket — the rocket propels the shield (and you) straight up.
- At the peak, open your Paraglider and glide over the wall to the altar platform.
Altar
Collect your Light of Blessing.
Chest Summary
| # | Contents | Location | |---|----------|----------| | 1 | Ruby | Room 1 — high on the wall. Accessible from the apex of the single-rocket launch. Deploy Paraglider and drift toward it instead of landing on the main platform. |
Tips
- Shield-rocket attach: The rocket must be attached to the outside face of the shield, not the grip side. Rotate it so the exhaust nozzle faces the ground when you hold your shield.
- Rocket timing: Rockets burn for about 3 seconds. After 3 seconds, you're in freefall — have your Paraglider thumb ready.
- Board attachment: Attach rockets to the underside of boards for a clean vertical launch. Side-attached rockets will launch you sideways, not up.
- Two rockets aren't always double the height: Two rockets in sequence give more height than two simultaneously because they both burn at once and exhaust together. But side-by-side rockets provide great stability for larger platforms.
- Chest access: In Room 1, look for a chest mounted high on the wall — it's accessible from the apex of the single-rocket launch. Deploy Paraglider and drift toward it instead of landing on the main platform first.
