Rasitakiwak Shrine
Rasitakiwak Shrine — Providing Fire
Location: Eldin Region, Death Mountain mid-elevation Type: Puzzle Shrine — Fire Application Difficulty: ★★★☆☆ (3/5) — Medium Coordinates: 1804, 2529, 0531 Required Ability: Ultrahand Reward: Light of Blessing
Overview
Rasitakiwak Shrine is a three-room fire-application puzzle on Death Mountain's mid-slope. The shrine tests your ability to use fire sources strategically — melting ice barriers, igniting wall torches, and managing fire delivery when the obvious source is unavailable. Unlike Arancia Shrine (which gives you Fire Arrows), Rasitakiwak requires you to use the environmental fire sources the shrine provides: a torch bracket, a fire jet, and fused weapon techniques. This shrine also introduces the dual-pressure-plate mechanic requiring simultaneous weight placement.
Preparation
- Fire Arrows (×5+) — backup fire source; shrine provides internal tools but having arrows ensures flexibility
- Fire Fruit (×3+) — fuse to any arrow; same effect as Fire Arrows; lightweight backup
- Flamebreaker Armor not needed inside — the shrine's fire sources are directional and don't splash onto Link unless you stand directly in the flame
- Ultrahand required for metal box placement
Room Layout
| Room | Obstacle | Fire Source Available | Solution | |------|----------|----------------------|---------| | Room 1 | Ice wall sealing passage | Wall torch bracket | Grab torch with Ultrahand, apply to ice | | Room 2 | Dual pressure plates (need weight) | None (combat-adjacent) | Place two metal boxes simultaneously | | Room 3 | Locked gate (torch trigger) | Ceiling fire jet | Shoot fire arrow or use Ultrahand to aim jet |
Walkthrough
Room 1 — Melting the Ice Wall
The entry corridor is sealed by a thick ice wall covering the full passage width. A lit torch sits in a bracket on the left wall.
Method A — Ultrahand torch carry (recommended):
- Use Ultrahand to grab the torch from its wall bracket
- Hold the torch close to the ice wall's lower center — the flame melts ice rapidly (approximately 3–5 seconds of sustained contact)
- Move the torch slowly across the wall face if only part of it melts initially
- Once enough of the wall melts, the passage is clear
- Set the torch down before proceeding — you may need it for the optional chest in Room 2
Method B — Fire Arrow:
- Fire 1–2 arrows at the center of the ice wall
- Each arrow melts a small section (1m radius)
- 2 arrows handle the standard wall size
Ice wall tip: The wall doesn't need to fully melt — just enough to create a Link-sized gap. Target the center first, then widen if needed.
Room 2 — Dual Pressure Plates
The second room has a flat floor with two circular pressure plates spaced 3 meters apart. A gate in the far wall opens only when both plates are depressed simultaneously.
Two heavy metal boxes rest against the room's side walls — one near each plate.
- Use Ultrahand to pick up the first metal box
- Place it on Pressure Plate 1 (the plate activates and glows)
- Pick up the second metal box
- Place it on Pressure Plate 2 (both plates now active simultaneously)
- The gate opens
Box stability: Metal boxes are dense — they stay put once placed without sliding. If a box tilts slightly off the plate's center, Ultrahand-nudge it from the side rather than picking it up and repositioning from scratch.
Chest — Elevated Ledge:
Before placing the second box on its plate, check the right side of Room 2 — an elevated stone ledge runs along the right wall approximately 2 meters above the floor.
- The chest is on this ledge
- Stack approach: Use Ultrahand to lift a metal box and place it against the right wall below the ledge — then jump on the box and jump again to clear the ledge lip
- Ascend approach: The ledge ceiling may have a thin section above the box position — check for the green Ascend indicator; if it's there, Ascend up directly
- Chest contains a Flame Emitter Zonai device or Ruby
- Return to the main floor after collecting
Room 3 — Torch Trigger Gate
The third room has a locked gate and a wall-mounted unlit torch visible through the gate's bars. A fire jet device is mounted on the right side of the room, but it's aimed away from the torch.
Solution — Redirect the fire jet:
- Use Ultrahand to grab the fire jet housing
- Rotate it so the nozzle aims through the gate bars toward the wall torch
- The fire jet fires automatically once aimed — the flame passes through the gate bars and ignites the torch
- The gate opens when the torch lights
Solution B — Fire Arrow through bars:
- Draw your bow
- Aim between the gate's metal bars (the gap is wide enough for an arrow)
- Fire one Fire Arrow directly at the unlit torch
- The torch ignites, gate opens
Solution C — Fused fire weapon:
- If you have a torch weapon or fire-fused melee weapon in inventory
- Stand at the gate bars and reach through with the weapon while attacking
- The fire contact ignites the torch
Chest Summary
| Chest | Location | Contents | |-------|----------|----------| | Room 2 elevated ledge | Right side of Room 2, 2m above floor | Flame Emitter or Ruby |
Altar
Past Room 3's gate, walk to Rauru's statue and collect your Light of Blessing.
Tips & Strategy
- Carry the Room 1 torch: The torch from Room 1's bracket is portable via Ultrahand. If you're running low on Fire Arrows, carry the torch through the shrine — it lights the Room 3 torch too (hold it near the bars from the room side).
- Metal box weight: Both pressure plates require sustained weight — the metal boxes provide this indefinitely without needing you to stand on them. Place both boxes and move on; the gate stays open.
- Fire jet angle (Room 3): The jet needs approximately 90° rotation from its default position to aim at the torch. Rotate it in small increments and observe the flame path — once the flame visually hits the torch, it lights within 1 second.
- Gate bar gap: Arrows pass through gate bars in TotK if aimed between bars, not at the bars themselves. Zoom in with the bow and find the gap — it's approximately 10cm wide, which arrows fit through cleanly.
- Chest box platform: If the elevated ledge chest is your priority, place only ONE metal box on its plate first (opens the gate partially or not at all, depending on the variant) and use that box as a stepping platform for the ledge climb before placing the second box.
- Eldin fire theme: Rasitakiwak's torch-and-gate mechanic recurs throughout the Fire Temple. Comfortable fire jet rotation and fire delivery techniques here accelerate temple progress significantly.
Required Abilities
- Ultrahand — carry and apply the torch in Room 1; place metal boxes on pressure plates; rotate the fire jet in Room 3
