Tenmaten Shrine
Tenmaten Shrine — Cold Trial
Location: Rimewise, northern Hyrule Ability Required: Combat Difficulty: Medium — cold-region construct combat trial
Overview
Tenmaten Shrine is a combat trial in the frigid Rimewise region. You face a Frost Construct II in a cold-element arena with ice terrain hazards. Unlike the Duhhara Shrine (Ice Construct III), this fight is more accessible but still demands fire weapons and good dodge timing.
Preparation
- Fire arrows (15+): The Frost Construct's core weakness
- Flame-fused melee weapon (Ruby or Fire Fruit attached to a sword)
- Cooked hearty food (3–5 meals)
- Cold gear for the approach; inside shrine is temperature-neutral
Walkthrough
Phase 1 — Opening Exchange
- The Frost Construct II opens with an ice shard burst — three shards in a spread. Roll sideways to dodge all three.
- Return fire with a fire arrow — it staggers the construct on contact.
- During the stagger (2.5 seconds), rush in with 3–4 flame-fused melee hits.
- Back off immediately — the construct recovers quickly and counters.
Phase 2 — Ice Burst Attack
- At ~50% HP, the construct creates a ground frost burst — it raises both arms and slams the floor, sending a radial ice wave outward.
- Jump over the ice wave (it's a low-traveling pulse) — time your jump to just before the wave reaches you.
- The construct briefly staggers after this attack — use the window for another fire arrow + melee combo.
Finishing
- Continue the fire arrow stagger cycle until the construct is defeated.
- Total fire arrows needed: roughly 5–6 well-placed shots.
Altar
Collect your Light of Blessing.
Tips
- Fire arrow over melee fusions: While flame-fused weapons are good, fire arrows that stagger from range are better here because the construct's ice shards are hard to dodge up close.
- Ice wave jump timing: The ice wave travels fast. Jump early (when the construct's arms touch the floor) rather than waiting to see the wave arrive.
- No ice on the floor in this shrine: Unlike Duhhara Shrine, the floor doesn't freeze permanently. You can fight anywhere in the arena — it doesn't become a terrain hazard.
- Flurry Rush setup: The construct's shard burst is the easiest Flurry Rush trigger — dodge sideways out of the spread, and if you're in melee range, it triggers Flurry Rush automatically.
- This fight is manageable: Compared to the Depths shrines, Tenmaten is a more straightforward encounter. Use it as a confidence builder before tackling harder combat shrines.
