Wao-os Shrine
Wao-os Shrine — Combined Challenge
Location: Hebra Mountains, northwest Hyrule Ability Required: Ultrahand, Recall, Ascend Difficulty: Hard — multi-mechanic shrine combining all three skills
Overview
Wao-os Shrine is the Hebra region's hardest puzzle shrine — it requires all three major abilities (Ultrahand, Recall, and Ascend) in sequence. Each room tests one skill, but the final room requires using them in combination. A capstone puzzle that rewards players who've mastered the mechanics.
Preparation
- All three abilities required: Ultrahand, Recall, Ascend
- No combat
- Takes 12–18 minutes — most challenging puzzle in Hebra
Walkthrough
Room 1 — Ultrahand (Basics Review)
- A series of three gaps of increasing width. Three boards of different lengths are available.
- Match each board to its gap by length — the short board for the near gap, medium for the middle, long for the far gap.
- Lay each board as a bridge and cross. Straightforward but tests precision placement.
Room 2 — Recall Gauntlet
- Three platforms move on different paths simultaneously — one rises, one swings, one circles.
- You must use Recall on each platform to reverse its path and reach the next ledge.
- Activate Recall on the rising platform (reverses = it descends to you). Board and ride it to the first ledge.
- From the first ledge, Recall the swinging platform as it passes — ride it to the second ledge.
- Recall the circular platform to bring it to your position — board and ride to the exit ledge.
Room 3 — Ascend Labyrinth
- A tall room with multiple horizontal slabs at different heights, none with staircases.
- Use Ascend to pass through the lowest slab to Slab 2, then Ascend through Slab 2 to Slab 3.
- Position yourself carefully — you can only Ascend directly above your current position.
Room 4 — Combined Final
- A complex room combining all three skills:
- Use Ultrahand to attach a fan to a platform to move it across a gap.
- Once the platform is in position, use Recall on it to reverse its path to come back to you.
- Board the platform, ride it across, then use Ascend through the ceiling at the far end to reach the altar level.
Altar
Collect your Light of Blessing.
Tips
- Room 2 timing: The three platforms in Room 2 have different speeds. Recall freezes a platform in time-reversal — use this to synchronize arrivals. Recall the slowest platform first.
- Room 3 slab alignment: Ascend requires you to be directly below the target surface. Move side to side to align with each slab before activating.
- Room 4 sequence matters: Do Ultrahand first (move the platform into starting position), then Recall (bring it back to you), then board and ride. If you Recall too early, the platform reverses before reaching its destination.
- The hardest part is Room 2: The swinging platform's arc is fast and unpredictable. Time your Recall to hit it when it's at its closest approach to you — don't try to Recall it from far away.
- Take your time: Wao-os Shrine rewards patience over speed. Each room can be reset by leaving and re-entering if you get stuck. There's no time pressure.
