Yiga Clan Hideout Guide — All Locations & Rewards TotK
Yiga Clan Hideout Guide — Tears of the Kingdom
The Yiga Clan are the recurring assassin faction in TotK — they ambush Link on the surface, operate underground bases in The Depths, and offer unique rewards if you defeat their captains. Unlike in Breath of the Wild, the Yiga Clan has a significant presence throughout The Depths, running a network of hideouts that serve as both enemy camps and loot caches.
Surface Yiga Ambushes
Yiga Clan Blademasters and Footsoldiers ambush Link on the overworld as random encounters. They trigger more frequently once Link has spoken to certain characters or progressed the main quest.
Ambush triggers:
- After speaking to Captain Hoz at Lookout Landing
- After entering any regional main quest area (Rito, Zora, Goron, Gerudo)
- Randomly after extended exploration sessions
Surface Yiga drops:
- Mighty Bananas — their signature food item, useful for cooking Energizing meals
- Sickles — curved one-handed weapons, moderate attack
- Bows — Yiga Clan Bows with moderate draw speed
- Occasionally: Disguise Masks (enemy type masks)
Tips:
- Yiga disguise as common NPCs (travelers, merchants, musicians) — the disguise breaks when Link approaches within 5 meters
- Perfect Guard (parry) against their spin attack opens a 3-second counter window
- Defeating ambush squads quickly (under 30 seconds) increases drop quality
The Depths Yiga Hideouts
The Yiga Clan operates 6 major Depths Hideouts scattered across the underground. Each hideout has a Captain (elite Yiga) guarding a treasure cache and a Schematic (blueprint for Autobuild).
Hideout 1 — Abandoned Mine Hideout (Central Hyrule Depths)
Location: Central Depths, near the Hyrule Castle underground approach (~-0240, -1680, -0480) Enemies: 4 Footsoldiers, 1 Blademaster Captain Key Loot: Yiga Clan Schematic #1 (Fanplane), Mighty Bananas x12
The captain here uses a two-handed Yiga Claymore with heavy swing attacks. The hideout is built around a mining shaft — use the shaft's narrow entry to bottleneck the Footsoldiers.
Tips:
- Defeat the Footsoldiers first before engaging the Captain — the Captain does not activate until the room is entered
- The Schematic chest is behind a false wall on the east side of the shaft — look for the slightly different texture
- Mighty Banana haul here is one of the best in the Depths
Hideout 2 — Gerudo Depths Outpost (~-3900, -2800, -0550)
Location: Western Depths below Gerudo Desert, northwest quadrant Enemies: 5 Footsoldiers, 1 Archmaster Captain (ranged specialist) Key Loot: Yiga Clan Schematic #2 (Hover Bike variant), Mighty Bananas x8
The Archmaster Captain fights exclusively at range with rapid-fire Yiga Bows. The hideout has elevated sniper platforms — clear the ground-level Footsoldiers, then use Recall on the Captain's arrows to stagger her.
Tips:
- Rush the Captain immediately on entry — staying at range lets her arrow-spam freely
- The treasure room here contains a Royal Guard's Claymore fused with a Shard of Farosh's Fang
Hideout 3 — Akkala Depths Compound (~2800, 2200, -0530)
Location: Far northeast Depths below Akkala Citadel Enemies: 6 Footsoldiers, 1 Blademaster Captain, 1 Footsoldier Captain Key Loot: Yiga Clan Schematic #3 (Portable Pot cart), Mighty Bananas x15
The largest Depths hideout. Two captains patrol a multi-room compound with a central staging area. The Portable Pot schematic is one of the most useful Autobuild blueprints — it creates a functional cooking station from Zonai parts.
Tips:
- Two captains means you need to separate them — lure one into a side corridor with a thrown Mighty Banana (yes, they chase bananas) before engaging the other
- The compound has a Bubbulfrog in the northeast corner room behind barrels
Hideout 4 — Lanayru Depths Station (~2650, -1200, -0480)
Location: Eastern Depths below Lanayru Wetlands Enemies: 3 Footsoldiers, 1 Blademaster Captain Key Loot: Yiga Clan Schematic #4 (Wing Glider), Mighty Bananas x10
A smaller hideout built into an ore vein. The Wing Glider schematic is useful for Depths navigation — build a working glider using the surrounding Zonai materials.
Tips:
- The ore vein behind the hideout contains 8+ Zonaite chunks — mine it before leaving
- The Captain here has the lowest HP of any Depths captain — strong two-hander clears him in 4 hits
Hideout 5 — Hebra Depths Outpost (~-2800, 1800, -0520)
Location: Northwest Depths below Hebra Mountains Enemies: 4 Footsoldiers, 1 Archmaster Captain Key Loot: Yiga Clan Schematic #5 (Sled vehicle), Mighty Bananas x9
The Sled Schematic builds a fast ground vehicle for Depths travel. The hideout is positioned near a Lightroot — activate the Lightroot first for the return fast-travel point before clearing the camp.
Tips:
- The Archmaster here has 50% more HP than the Gerudo variant — bring 2 strong weapons minimum
- Sled schematic is particularly useful in the flat Gerudo Depths for fast transit
Hideout 6 — Necluda Depths Base (~2100, -2500, -0490)
Location: Southeast Depths below East Necluda coast Enemies: 5 Footsoldiers, 1 Blademaster Captain, 2 Footsoldiers (patrol) Key Loot: Yiga Clan Schematic #6 (Speedboat), Mighty Bananas x11
The final major hideout. The Speedboat schematic creates the fastest Zonai water vehicle — useful for the Lanayru Sea surface area. The Captain is the highest-level Blademaster in the Depths.
Tips:
- The patrol Footsoldiers are on a 45-second loop outside the main compound — time your entry to avoid triggering both patrol and interior groups simultaneously
- The Captain uses a Flurry Rush counter immediately after his second attack — don't rush in after his second swing
Yiga Clan Schematics (All 6)
Collecting all 6 Yiga Clan Schematics unlocks Autobuild blueprints for:
| Schematic | Vehicle Type | Best Use | |-----------|-------------|----------| | Fanplane | Air glider with thrust | Depths vertical navigation | | Hover Bike | Flying motorcycle | Surface fast travel | | Portable Pot | Cooking cart | Field cooking anywhere | | Wing Glider | Standard glider | Depths horizontal gaps | | Sled | Ground sled | Flat Depths terrain speed | | Speedboat | Water vehicle | Sea/lake crossing |
Hover Bike is the most valuable schematic — a functional flying bike using 2 fans and a steering stick. It covers the overworld faster than any other vehicle. Most TotK players consider it the best Autobuild schematic in the game.
Mighty Banana Farming
Mighty Bananas drop from every Yiga Clan enemy. They're also found in Yiga Clan camps in piles on tables and shelves.
Why Mighty Bananas matter:
- Cook 4 Mighty Bananas + 1 Energetic Rhino Beetle = Energizing Elixir (full stamina restore)
- Cook 5 Mighty Bananas alone = Energizing Steamed Fruit (1.5 stamina restore)
- Sell value: 3 rupees each (low — cook them instead)
Best Mighty Banana farm: Hideout 3 (Akkala, 15 per run) + Hideout 6 (Necluda, 11 per run). Blood Moon resets both camps — cycle between them for 26 Mighty Bananas per Blood Moon cycle.
Yiga Clan Armor Set
The Yiga Clan Armor set consists of the Yiga Mask, Yiga Top, and Yiga Tights. It's not sold — each piece must be found in specific chests.
| Piece | Location | |-------|----------| | Yiga Mask | Akkala Citadel Depths chest — specific room on upper level | | Yiga Top | Gerudo Depths Outpost treasure room | | Yiga Tights | Necluda Depths Base secondary chest |
Set bonus: Wearing the full Yiga set allows Link to walk past Yiga Clan enemies without triggering combat — they believe Link is a Yiga member. Useful for infiltrating camps to grab treasure without fighting.
Upgrade materials: Yiga Clan armor requires Amber (tier 1), Topaz (tier 2), and Yiga Clan Schematic fragments (tier 3+) — the schematic fragments drop from Archmaster Captains only.
Yiga Clan Master Kohga Boss
Master Kohga appears 4 times throughout the Depths as a recurring boss. Each fight unlocks a section of the Depths and awards a Zonai device cache.
- Fight 1 (Central Depths): Uses boulder-throwing. Counter: Recall the boulder back at him.
- Fight 2 (Eldin Depths): Uses spiked ball. Counter: Push the ball into the water pool.
- Fight 3 (Gerudo Depths): Uses electrified raft. Counter: Redirect the electric attacks with metal objects.
- Fight 4 (Akkala Depths): Final form, all three mechanics combined. Counter: Master all three previous techniques in sequence.
Defeating all 4 Master Kohga encounters awards the Hero of the Depths achievement and a large Zonaite cache at the Kohga throne location.
The Yiga Clan is one of the most rewarding enemy factions to fully clear — schematics, armor, Mighty Banana farms, and Kohga's sequential boss fights make them worth hunting across the entire game.
