About This Lightroot

Atomas Lightroot (anagram of Motosas Shrine) occupies the far northeastern corner of the Akkala Depths at the map boundary — the most remote lightroot in the Akkala region and one of the most visually striking locations in the entire Depths. The crystal cave surrounding it features quartz columns grown floor-to-ceiling over geological time, some reaching 6-8 meters tall, their faceted surfaces refracting the lightroot's amber glow into spectral fans of shifting color that rotate as you move through the chamber. The quartz formations are alive with rare mineral inclusions: Topaz, Sapphire, and Amber deposits are embedded in the crystal matrix at every level, and harvesting them requires breaking sections of the quartz columns themselves — each column yields 2-4 gems. The rarity of this location means almost no enemy presence: the only combatants are 2-3 Gibdo variants (undead type, resistant to physical weapons, weak to lightning) that have nested in the crystal ceiling and drop when disturbed. The remoteness makes this an excellent final stop on a northeastern Akkala circuit — arrive with full inventory space. A sealed door at the cave's far north wall has no visible mechanism and has not been opened. Chain navigation: approach via Otatik Lightroot, following the northeastern tunnel system.
