About Impa

Impa is the former elder of Kakariko Village, now traveling with a hot air balloon to study the massive geoglyphs that appeared across Hyrule during the Upheaval. While Paya has taken over village leadership in her absence, Impa is consumed by the mystery of the geoglyphs — enormous ground-level drawings that are only visible from high altitude and appear to contain encoded messages. She first contacts Link at New Serenne Stable north of Hyrule Field and uses her balloon to demonstrate how to read geoglyphs from the sky. She then tasks Link with collecting all 12 Dragon Tear memories within each geoglyph — a sprawling questline that reveals the complete backstory of Zelda's transformation and the founding of Hyrule. Impa is older, slightly more frail, but no less sharp-minded than in BotW. Her relationship with Link has the warmth of old friends, and her exchanges with Paya over courier letters are among TotK's quieter highlights.
