Quest Overview
Archaeologist Tauro from Hateno University has set up a research camp on the Lanayru Sky Archipelago and needs help accessing three locked Zonai research chambers on islands he can't reach safely. The chambers contain Zonai inscriptions about the Sky Archipelago's original purpose. Link must navigate to each island, unlock the chamber with its Zonai key device, and collect inscription rubbings that Tauro can translate back at camp.

Step-by-Step Walkthrough
1
Meet Tauro at His Lanayru Sky Camp
Tauro has established a base camp on the largest Lanayru Sky Island after spending two weeks documenting its surface features. Three smaller research islands are visible from camp — each has a sealed Zonai chamber with inscription panels. He's made rubbing paper and tools but can't cross to the smaller islands safely (he lacks Link's mobility tools). He marks the three islands on Link's map and provides rubbing materials.
2
Access Research Island Alpha — The Observatory Dome
The first island is northeast of camp, accessible by paraglider from a thermal updraft above a Zonai fan array. The sealed chamber is a dome-shaped structure. The key device is a Zonai puzzle: three pressure plates in the correct order (sequence is engraved on the exterior arch — left, center, right). Stand on each in order to unlock the door. Inside, inscription panels line the walls. Make careful rubbings of all four panels.
3
Access Research Island Beta — The Platform Array
The second island is a series of floating platforms leading to a central tower. The Zonai platform array is powered — platforms activate and move when Link steps on the pressure activators at the base island. Time the platform crossings (each platform moves on a 6-second cycle). The tower chamber at the center is unlocked by inserting a Zonai Charge into the door socket. Rub the three inscription panels inside.
4
Access Research Island Gamma — The Pinnacle Tower
The third island is the highest point in the Lanayru Sky Archipelago — a narrow pinnacle. The approach requires ascending from below through the tower using Ascend ability. The chamber is near the top. Its key device is a Zonai crystal that must be carried from 20 meters below (where it fell from its socket). Use Ultrahand to carry the crystal up through the tower and reinsert it. The chamber unlocks. Three inscription panels inside describe the Archipelago's original function.
5
Return Rubbings to Tauro
Return all ten inscription rubbings to Tauro at base camp. He spreads them across his worktable and begins cross-referencing against his Zonai symbol lexicon. The inscriptions describe the Lanayru Sky Archipelago as a Zonai weather observatory — its original purpose was to monitor and record wind patterns, sea weather, and sky anomalies for the Zonai's climate research program. Tauro gives Link his Zonai Survey Notes (documenting every identified Lanayru Sky Island feature) and four Large Zonai Charges from his supply cache.
