Accept the Depths Survey Mission From Josha

Speak with Josha, the young researcher at Lookout Landing, who is coordinating a mapping effort of the Depths below Hyrule. She asks Link to descend and activate five specific Lightroots in the southern Depths to expand the survey map. She marks the target chasm locations and explains that each Lightroot activation registers in her research terminal above.

Descend and Locate the Target Lightroots

Drop into the Depths through chasms in southern Hyrule — the Faron or Necluda region sinkholes provide the best access to the assigned Lightroots. Navigate through the dark using the Purah Pad map to find the five targets. Lightroots appear as large glowing white structures on the ground. Touch each one to activate it, which illuminates a wide area and registers it on your Depths map.

Return the Activation Records to Josha

After activating all five Lightroots, return to Lookout Landing and report to Josha. She reviews the new data points on her map with visible excitement, explaining that each activated Lightroot corresponds to a surface landmark directly above. She rewards Link with 500 Rupees and a cache of upgrade materials as thanks for expanding the survey.
