Reach the Dragonhead Sky Island
The Dragonhead Island floats northwest of the Great Sky Island, shaped unmistakably like a dragon's skull when viewed from below. Ascend using a Sky Tower or build a flying contraption from Zonai fans and boards. Updrafts near large sky island clusters can carry you high enough to glide to the island's entrance — the open mouth of the dragonhead.

Activate the Rotating Gear Mechanism
Inside the island's main chamber, you encounter a series of interlocked Zonai gears connected to water channels. Each gear controls the flow of water that powers a downstream mechanism. Use Ultrahand to turn the first gear clockwise, which opens a water valve feeding two smaller gears. Rotate those secondary gears to redirect water flow away from a blocked drain at the puzzle's center.

Redirect the Water Channels
With the gears properly oriented, water fills a raised channel and flows to a stone basin on a raised platform. The weight of the water tips the basin, which pulls a rope connected to a sealed iron door via a pulley system. The door swings open, revealing the inner sanctum of the dragonhead island — a sealed Zonai vault with ancient geometric carvings on its walls.

Claim the Reward from the Zonai Vault
Enter the sanctum to find a Zonaite Shield on a pedestal and a chest containing 3 Large Zonaite. The shield is constructed entirely from Zonaite alloy, giving it exceptional durability and a unique appearance. A Zonai terminal in the vault provides historical context: the island was a Zonai research station for studying atmospheric wind currents, abandoned when the Zonai departed Hyrule.
