The Blood Moon Investigation
Adventure Overview
The Blood Moon's return after each cycle raises urgent questions for the scholars of Lookout Landing: is Ganondorf's malice powering it, or is there a natural Hyrulean explanation? Josha has identified three ancient observatory sites that tracked Blood Moons in the pre-Calamity era. Visiting each observatory, activating its astronomical instruments, and recording the data gives the research team enough information to predict Blood Moon timing — and potentially prevent one.

Step-by-Step Walkthrough
1
The Research Briefing
After your first Blood Moon, Josha is in a research frenzy. She explains that the ancient Sheikah built observatories specifically to track the Blood Moon's malice-driven pattern. Three observatories are marked on her map, but all three are currently inaccessible or inactive.
2
Akkala Observatory
The Akkala Observatory sits atop a cliff northeast of Zora's Domain. Its telescope mechanism is intact but the tracking dial is jammed with Depths debris from the Upheaval. Clear the dial with Ultrahand and activate the telescope to record the Blood Moon's eastern approach vector.
3
Gerudo Observatory
The Gerudo Observatory is partially buried in a sand drift. Excavate it using Ultrahand to shift the sand blocks. The instrument inside tracks the Blood Moon's connection to the Gerudo Highlands malice veins — its readings confirm Ganondorf as the direct power source.
4
Hebra Observatory
The Hebra Observatory is the most remote — on a frozen peak above Rito Village. Its ice-crystal tracking system is still functional. Link must light the warming brazier inside before the crystal instruments are usable in the extreme cold.
5
Deliver the Data
Three sets of observatory readings give Josha enough data to model the Blood Moon cycle. She can now predict the next three Blood Moons accurately and provides Link with a Blood Moon warning system via the Purah Pad.
