Maren's Tip

Stock up on Hearty meals before boss fights — a single Hearty Durian dish gives full recovery plus bonus hearts. Don't forget to save!

Description

A stronger blue-tinted Hinox that hits harder and moves faster than its red cousin. Begins blocking its eye earlier in the fight, requiring you to bait attacks to create shooting windows.

Weakness

Blue Hinox's primary weakness is Eye — shoot with arrows to stun, then melee legs.

How to Beat Blue Hinox

  1. Blue Hinoxes are the mid-tier Hinox variant with significantly more HP and harder-hitting attacks than the basic red variety.
  2. The core strategy is the same — arrow to the eye, then melee legs during the stun — but execution must be tighter.
  3. Preparation: Bring at least ten arrows and a strong melee weapon.
  4. The Blue Hinox deals enough damage to one-shot poorly armored Link, so equip decent defense gear or cook defense-boosting meals.
  5. Phase 1 — Eye Shots: The Blue Hinox moves faster and swings its arms more aggressively than a basic Hinox.
  6. Stay at medium range to avoid its slam attacks and fire arrows at its single eye.
  7. Each eye shot stuns it for about four to five seconds — slightly shorter than a red Hinox.
  8. Sprint in immediately and strike the legs or torso.
  9. Its tree-swing attack now covers a wider arc and tracks better, so dodge behind the Hinox when it winds up.
  10. Phase 2 — Defense Pattern: Blue Hinoxes begin partially covering their eye with one hand at roughly two-thirds health — slightly earlier than Black Hinoxes.
  11. Wait for the Hinox to attack (the attacking arm moves away from the eye), then fire immediately during the exposed window.
  12. The slam attack is the best opening — it drops both hands to the ground, fully exposing the eye for a clean shot.
  13. Necklace weapons on Blue Hinoxes are typically mid-tier quality — Royal weapons or Soldier-grade gear — making them decent loot targets.
  14. Four to five stun cycles should defeat a Blue Hinox.
