Dragon Parts Farming Guide — Tears of the Kingdom
Dragon Parts Farming Guide
Dragon Parts are the rarest upgrade materials in Tears of the Kingdom. They're required for Level 4 (★★★★) armor upgrades on many sets, and Dragon Fangs fused to weapons create some of the highest-damage builds in the game. This guide covers all four dragons, their parts, and how to farm them efficiently.
The Four Dragons
| Dragon | Element | Region | Color | |--------|---------|--------|-------| | Dinraal | Fire | Eldin / north Akkala | Red | | Naydra | Ice | Lanayru / east Necluda | Blue | | Farosh | Lightning | Faron / Lake Hylia | Green | | Light Dragon (Zelda) | Light | Entire Hyrule (high altitude) | Gold |
Each dragon drops four types of parts:
- Scale — from the body (easiest to collect)
- Claw — from the claws/feet
- Fang — from near the mouth/head area
- Horn — from hitting the horn specifically (rarest)
Dragon Part Drop Rules
Critical mechanics:
- Each dragon drops one part per 10 real-time minutes
- The cooldown is per-dragon, not global
- If you collect a part and teleport away, the timer resets when you return
- Parts drop as glowing items — collect them before they despawn (~3 minutes)
How to hit each part type:
- Scale — hit the body (easiest target area)
- Claw — hit the leg/claw area
- Fang — hit near the mouth
- Horn — shoot an arrow directly at the horn (requires precision)
Tip: Use a bow with a high-zoom scope (Royal Bow or better) to target specific parts from a distance before landing.
Finding the Dragons
Dinraal (Fire Dragon — Red)
Flight path: Circles the Eldin region (Death Mountain area). Also flies through the northern Akkala region and the sky above the Eldin Sky Archipelago.
Best intercept points:
- Eldin Sky Tower launch — launches you into the sky, intercept Dinraal's path above Death Mountain
- The sky above Eldin's volcanic craters in the morning (5–8 AM in-game time)
- North Akkala cliffs — Dinraal sometimes flies low enough to reach via Skyview Tower
Danger: Dinraal emits fire. Do not land on its head without fire resistance food or Flamebreaker Armor. The body is safer.
Naydra (Ice Dragon — Blue)
Flight path: Circles the Lanayru region (Mount Lanayru, Zora's Domain area). Also flies over the Necluda Sea east coast.
Best intercept points:
- Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower — launch and intercept Naydra above the mountain
- The ice cliffs east of Zora's Domain in early morning
- Shoot from the Mount Lanayru summit (a high peak accessible by climbing)
Danger: Naydra emits ice blasts. Bring Spicy Elixirs or Warm Doublet if spending extended time on the dragon.
Farosh (Lightning Dragon — Green)
Flight path: Circles the Faron region, Lake Hylia, and the Gerudo Highlands. Most consistent flight path of the three elemental dragons.
Best intercept points:
- Popla Foothills Skyview Tower (Faron) — launches into Farosh's reliable circuit path
- The sky above Lake Hylia at dawn
- Gerudo Highlands peaks (southwest) — Farosh flies a low arc here
Danger: Farosh constantly emits electricity. Do not wear metal armor on the dragon — you'll be shocked repeatedly. Use the Rubber Armor set (from Gerudo Sky Labyrinth) for immunity.
Light Dragon (Zelda — Gold)
Flight path: Orbits the entire Hyrule map at extreme altitude (above clouds). Takes ~20 real-time minutes per circuit.
Best intercept points:
- The Light Dragon flies above 3,500m altitude — standard Skyview Towers do not reach it directly
- Launch from a tall sky island and use Zonai rockets or fan platforms to close the altitude gap
- After obtaining the Master Sword (which requires landing on the dragon once), you can use fast travel to return
Why farm Light Dragon parts: Zelda's Dragon Parts are needed for the highest-tier armor upgrades (Barbarian Level 4, Fierce Deity Level 4, and others). They are the rarest parts in the game due to the dragon's extreme altitude.
Light Dragon parts:
- Zelda's Scale — body
- Zelda's Claw — foot area
- Zelda's Fang — near the head (where the Master Sword is lodged)
- Zelda's Horn — shoot the white horn near the crown of the head
Efficient Farming Method
The fastest dragon part farming method uses the time-skip technique:
- Find the dragon you want to farm
- Land on it and collect one part
- Rest at a campfire or inn (advances time by several hours in-game)
- The 10-minute real-time cooldown is tied to real time, NOT in-game time
- Alternatively, travel to a distant location via fast travel, collect another dragon's parts or do other tasks, then return
Bulk farming session:
- Farm one part from Dinraal
- Fast travel to Farosh's area, farm one part from Farosh
- Fast travel to Naydra's area, farm one part from Naydra
- All three timers run simultaneously — this is ~30 parts per hour if you optimize routing
Dragon Fang Weapon Fusing
Dragon Fangs are among the strongest Fuse materials in the game:
| Fang | Bonus Damage | Element | |------|-------------|---------| | Dinraal's Fang | +26 | Fire | | Naydra's Fang | +26 | Ice | | Farosh's Fang | +26 | Lightning | | Zelda's Fang | +26 | Light |
Best fang uses:
- Master Sword + Zelda's Fang — beam + light damage, hits spiritual/boss enemies harder
- Royal Claymore + Dinraal's Fang — fire + raw damage, extremely strong against ice enemies
- Silver Lynel Saber Horn + Farosh's Fang — lightning + massive raw attack = highest non-Master Sword DPS
Note: Dragon Fangs fall off your weapon when it breaks (if fused to a breakable weapon). The Master Sword is the only unbreakable weapon — a permanent fused Fang is therefore strongest there.
Armor Upgrades That Require Dragon Parts
Level 4 (★★★★) requirements include Dragon Parts for:
| Armor Set | Dragon Part Needed | |-----------|-------------------| | Barbarian Helm/Armor/Boots | Dinraal's Horn, Naydra's Fang, Farosh's Claw (varies by piece) | | Fierce Deity Mask/Armor/Boots | Zelda's Scale, Claw, Fang, Horn | | Ancient Hero's Aspect | Not upgradeable (cosmetic only) | | Flamebreaker set | Dinraal parts | | Snowquill set | Naydra parts | | Rubber Armor set | Farosh parts |
Priority: Farm Barbarian and Fierce Deity parts first — these sets have the highest combat impact at Level 4.
Farming Tips
Use Tulin's Gust. When gliding toward a dragon, Tulin's ability doubles your glide distance. Essential for reaching Dinraal and Naydra's faster-moving circuits.
Night farming. Most dragons are more visible at night due to their glow effects. Use the campfire time-skip to advance to nighttime if you're having trouble spotting them.
Track the map. Open your map and look for the dragon's icon moving in real time. Intercept its path at a Skyview Tower rather than chasing it.
Bring plenty of arrows. Horn shots require multiple attempts (the horn is a small target). Stock 50+ arrows before a dedicated farming session.
