Fuse Combos Guide — Best Weapon Fusions for Damage and Utility

The Fuse ability is the core of Tears of the Kingdom's weapon system. Every weapon can be fused with a material to add attack power, elemental effects, or unique properties. The right fusion transforms a mediocre weapon into a powerhouse. This guide covers the best combinations for every situation.

How Fuse Works

Fuse attaches a material to a weapon, adding the material's fuse attack value to the weapon's base attack. The fused material also adds visual changes and sometimes special properties (elemental damage, extended reach, mining capability).

  • Fuse attack values stack additively with base weapon attack
  • The fused material breaks when the weapon's durability runs out (the material is consumed)
  • You can un-fuse at any Goron NPC in Tarrey Town for 20 rupees, recovering the material
  • Fuse works on shields and arrows too — fusing a material to a shield creates a contact effect when blocking, and fusing to an arrow adds the material's effect on impact

S-Tier Damage Fusions

These are the highest raw damage fusions in the game.

One-Handed Weapons

| Base Weapon | Fuse Material | Total Attack | Notes | |-------------|--------------|-------------|-------| | Master Sword (30) | Savage Lynel Saber Horn (+55) | 85 | Best one-hand; regenerates | | Royal Guard's Sword (32) | Savage Lynel Saber Horn (+55) | 87 | Higher base but fragile | | Knight's Broadsword (26) | Silver Lynel Saber Horn (+55) | 81 | Reliable and common |

Two-Handed Weapons

| Base Weapon | Fuse Material | Total Attack | Notes | |-------------|--------------|-------------|-------| | Royal Claymore (36) | Savage Lynel Saber Horn (+55) | 91 | Highest 2H damage in game | | Royal Guard's Claymore (32) | Savage Lynel Crusher (+55) | 87 | Royal Guard low-HP bonus | | Cobble Crusher (28) | Silver Lynel Crusher (+55) | 83 | Also mines ore deposits |

Spears

| Base Weapon | Fuse Material | Total Attack | Notes | |-------------|--------------|-------------|-------| | Royal Halberd (24) | Savage Lynel Saber Horn (+55) | 79 | Best spear damage | | Lightscale Trident (22) | Silver Lynel Horn (+55) | 77 | Zora Domain quest reward |

Tip: One-handed weapons are generally best for combat because they allow shield use and have the highest Flurry Rush hit count (8 hits versus 4 for two-handed). Save two-handed fusions for charge spin attacks and mounted Lynel combat.

Elemental Fusions

Elemental fusions add status effects on hit. The element type comes from the fused material.

Fire

| Material | Fuse Attack | Effect | |----------|------------|--------| | Ruby | +7 | Fire explosion on hit; breaks ice obstacles | | Fire Fruit | +1 | Sets enemies on fire; ignites flammable objects | | Red ChuChu Jelly | +1 | Fire splash on contact | | Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horn | +18 | Strong fire + good damage |

Best use: Setting Bokoblin camps on fire (straw huts chain-burn), melting ice barriers, fighting cold-element enemies.

Ice

| Material | Fuse Attack | Effect | |----------|------------|--------| | Sapphire | +7 | Ice explosion; freezes enemies solid | | Ice Fruit | +1 | Freezes on hit | | White ChuChu Jelly | +1 | Ice splash | | Ice-Breath Lizalfos Horn | +18 | Strong freeze + damage |

Best use: Freeze-shatter combo (freeze enemy, then hit with two-handed charge attack for 3x damage). Extremely effective against Hinox and Talus.

Electric

| Material | Fuse Attack | Effect | |----------|------------|--------| | Topaz | +7 | Electric shock; chains through metal and water | | Shock Fruit | +1 | Stuns on hit; forces weapon drop | | Yellow ChuChu Jelly | +1 | Electric splash | | Electric Lizalfos Horn | +18 | Strong shock + damage |

Best use: Making enemies drop their weapons (shocked enemies release held items), chain-stunning groups in water, disabling electric Lizalfos.

Utility Fusions

Not every fusion is about damage. These serve specific purposes.

Mining Fusions

| Material | Effect | |----------|--------| | Rock Hammer | Breaks ore deposits in 1-2 hits | | Cobble Crusher (weapon base) | Mines ore while remaining combat-viable | | Any Goron-themed material | Mining boost to ore deposits |

Tip: Keep one dedicated mining weapon at all times. Fuse a Rock Hammer to any disposable weapon — it saves your combat weapons from durability loss on ore.

Long-Reach Fusions

| Material | Effect | |----------|--------| | Lizalfos Tail (any tier) | Extends weapon reach significantly (whip effect) | | Gibdo Bone | Long reach + decent damage |

Lizalfos Tail fusions create whip-like weapons with enormous range. The attack power is modest, but the reach lets you hit enemies before they can reach you — excellent for Gloom Hands, where maintaining distance is critical.

Durability Extension

| Material | Effect | |----------|--------| | Diamond | +25 attack, high durability | | Flint | Low attack but nearly doubles weapon lifespan |

Arrow Fusions

Fusing materials to arrows adds their effect on impact. Arrows are the most versatile fuse target.

Combat Arrows

| Material | Effect | Best Use | |----------|--------|----------| | Bomb Flower | Explosion on impact | Camp clearing, Talus weak points | | Muddle Bud | Confuses enemy for 30 seconds | Turn strongest camp enemy against allies | | Dazzlefruit | Flash-blinds cone of enemies | Safe repositioning, crowd control | | Keese Eyeball | Homing arrow | Guaranteed hit on moving targets |

Elemental Arrows

| Material | Effect | |----------|--------| | Fire Fruit | Fire arrow (ignites) | | Ice Fruit | Ice arrow (freezes) | | Shock Fruit | Thunder arrow (stuns, chains in water) |

Exploration Arrows

| Material | Effect | |----------|--------| | Brightbloom Seed | Illuminates impact area — essential for Depths scouting | | Puffshroom | Smoke cloud on impact — hides Link for stealth approaches | | Gibdo Bone | Long-range high-damage sniper shot |

Tip: Keese Eyeball arrows are the most universally useful combat arrow. They home in on the nearest enemy, guaranteeing hits on flying targets like Aerocuda, Keese swarms, and dragon parts.

Shield Fusions

Fusing materials to shields creates contact effects when enemies strike your shield.

| Material | Effect | |----------|--------| | Flame Emitter | Burns attackers on contact | | Frost Emitter | Freezes attackers on contact | | Shock Emitter | Stuns attackers on contact | | Porcupine | Deals thorn damage to melee attackers | | Rocket | Shield-surf launch — massive vertical boost | | Minecart | Shield-surf on rails | | Spring | Bounces Link upward when shield-surfing |

Best shield fuse: Rocket. Fusing a Zonai Rocket to a shield and shield-surfing launches you skyward — the fastest vertical movement in the game outside of Skyview Towers. Essential for reaching the Light Dragon and high sky islands.

Creative and Fun Fusions

These are not optimal for damage but demonstrate the system's flexibility:

  • Minecart + Shield: Shield-surf on mine cart tracks at high speed
  • Zonai Fan + Weapon: Creates wind blast on swing, pushing enemies off cliffs
  • Star Fragment + Any Weapon: Glowing weapon with +12 attack (cosmetic appeal)
  • Giant Brightbloom Seed + Arrow: Creates a massive light beacon wherever it lands
  • Octorok Balloon + Shield: Shield floats briefly when thrown (niche puzzle use)

Fuse Priority by Game Phase

Early Game (0-20 hours)

Fuse Captain Construct Horns and Soldier Construct Horns to everything. They are common, provide decent attack boosts (+5 to +12), and are plentiful from sky island enemies.

Mid Game (20-60 hours)

Transition to Moblin Horns, Lizalfos Horns, and elemental materials. Start farming Blue-Maned Lynels for Lynel Saber Horns (+32 attack).

Late Game (60+ hours)

Farm Savage Lynel Saber Horns (+55) exclusively for your primary weapons. Use elemental fusions on utility weapons and arrow fusions for tactical combat.
