Weapons & Fusing Guide — Best Combinations & Damage Stacking

Fuse transforms TotK's weapon system from a breakage management headache into a strategic build game. A wooden stick with the right material fused becomes more powerful than most base weapons. This guide covers the best Fuse combinations, how damage stacking works, and the highest-DPS builds in the game.

How Fuse Works

  • Fuse = base weapon damage + fused material bonus damage
  • The base weapon's attack stat still matters — fusing adds to it, not replaces it
  • Fused materials on weapons don't degrade the weapon faster — durability is separate
  • Some materials add elemental effects (electric, fire, ice) in addition to raw damage
  • Unfusing: You can remove a fused material at any Octorok (only in Eldin) or at the Fuse ability menu — unfusing destroys the material but returns the clean base weapon

Damage formula: Final Attack = Base Weapon + Material Bonus

  • A Soldier's Claymore (36 base) + Lynel Saber Horn (55 bonus) = 91 attack
  • A Tree Branch (4 base) + Gibdo Bone (50 bonus) = 54 attack (terrible base, great material)

Best Fuse Materials by Tier

Tier S — Maximum Damage

| Material | Fuse Bonus | Drop Source | |----------|-----------|-------------| | Silver Lynel Saber Horn | +55 | Silver Lynels (post-game) | | Silver Lynel Mace Horn | +55 | Silver Lynels (post-game) | | Lynel Saber Horn | +45 | Blue-Mane and White-Mane Lynels | | Lynel Mace Horn | +45 | Blue-Mane and White-Mane Lynels | | Dragon Parts | +24–26 | Farosh, Naydra, Dinraal, Gloom Hands spawn |

Tier A — High Damage, More Available

| Material | Fuse Bonus | Drop Source | |----------|-----------|-------------| | Gibdo Bone | +50 | Gibdo (Lightning Temple and Gerudo depths) | | Hinox Guts | +15 | Any Hinox | | Black Moblin Horn | +30 | Black Moblins | | Silver Bokoblin Horn | +30 | Silver Bokoblins | | Gleeok Horn | +45 | Any Gleeok (rare boss) | | Frost Gleeok Horn | +45 | Frost Gleeok specifically |

Tier B — Reliable Midgame Materials

| Material | Fuse Bonus | Source | |----------|-----------|--------| | Lizalfos Horn | +20 | Blue/Electric/Fire Lizalfos | | Moblin Horn | +18 | Standard Moblins | | Bokoblin Horn | +12–20 | All Bokoblin tiers | | Stone Talus Heart | +25 | Stone Talus (ore deposit drop) | | Blue-White Frox Fang | +22 | Frox in the Depths |

Best Weapon + Material Combinations

Highest Single-Hit Damage

  1. Royal Guard's Claymore + Silver Lynel Saber Horn

    • Base: 72 + Fuse: 55 = 127 attack
    • Issue: Royal Guard's weapons have terrible durability — they break in 3–5 hits
    • Best use: Lynel fights where you'll hit the mount dozens of times (durability per hit is fine for Lynel riding)
  2. Soldier's Claymore + Silver Lynel Saber Horn

    • Base: 36 + Fuse: 55 = 91 attack
    • Much better durability than Royal Guard's — solid general-use build
  3. Royal Claymore + Lynel Saber Horn

    • Base: 52 + Fuse: 45 = 97 attack
    • Excellent balance of damage and durability
  4. Any weapon + Gibdo Bone

    • Gibdo Bone adds +50 regardless of weapon type
    • A Zora Longsword (20 base) + Gibdo Bone = 70 attack with good durability
    • Farm Gibdos in the Gerudo Depths for reliable high-damage fuses

Best Spear Build

Spears have reach advantage (hit from further) and good combo speed:

  • Royal Halberd + Lynel Saber Horn = 32 + 45 = 77 attack — strongest spear build
  • Lizal Tri-Boomerang + Silver Lynel Saber Horn — hit-and-return projectile, still fused damage on flight

Best One-Handed Sword Build

  • Royal Sword + Gleeok Horn = 36 + 45 = 81 attack
  • One-handed allows shield simultaneous use — best for defensive combat style

Elemental Fuse Builds

Electric: Any weapon + Electric Lizalfos Tail or Shock Fruit

  • Damages wet enemies for 3× — incredible near water or in rain
  • Electric attacks chain to nearby enemies within 2m

Fire: Any weapon + Red Chuchu Jelly or Fire Fruit

  • Destroys ice armor, ignites grass/wood, melts frozen enemies
  • Flame weapons melt ice blocks in puzzles

Ice: Any weapon + White Chuchu Jelly or Frost Fruit

  • Freezes enemies solid (1–3 seconds depending on enemy tier)
  • Frozen enemies take 3× damage from the next hit — deadly combo with a second heavy weapon

Farming the Best Materials

Lynel Horns (Tier S)

Route: Hyrule Coliseum interior → Akkala Citadel Lynel → Lanayru road Lynel

  • 3–4 Lynels per circuit
  • Each Lynel drops 3–5 Lynel parts (horn, hooves, guts, saber horn)
  • After Blood Moon: all Lynels respawn — run the circuit again
  • Silver Lynel locations: Post-game Coliseum, Akkala Citadel, and select fixed spawns at Master Mode equivalent areas

Gibdo Bones

Location: Lightning Temple (during/after Gerudo quest) + Gerudo Depths directly below Gerudo Town

  • Gibdo spawn in clusters of 4–6 in underground caverns
  • Each Gibdo drops 1–2 Gibdo Bones on death
  • Gerudo Depths circuit farms 15–20 bones per run

Dragon Parts (Unique — +24 damage + elemental bonus)

Dragon horn/scale/shard/claw drops from each of the 4 dragons:

  • Farosh (lightning) — Faron region, spawns from Lake Hylia at 11pm nightly
  • Naydra (ice) — Lanayru region, Mount Lanayru area
  • Dinraal (fire) — Eldin region, Death Mountain area
  • Light Dragon — sky only, flies in figure-8 over Central Hyrule (carries Master Sword)

Dragon parts add a permanent elemental aura to the weapon (fire crackle, ice glimmer, etc.) plus the damage bonus. Fusing a Naydra Ice Scale to a one-handed sword gives +24 attack AND an ice freeze effect on hit.

Weapon Durability & Breakage Management

Highest Durability Base Weapons

| Weapon | Durability | Drop Source | |--------|-----------|-------------| | Lynel weapons (bow, crusher, sword) | Very High | Lynel drops | | Royal weapons | High | Hyrule Castle, Coliseum | | Soldier weapons | Medium-High | Bokoblin/Moblin elite drops | | Knight weapons | Medium | Common chest loot |

Tip: High-damage fused materials don't reduce durability faster — a Silver Lynel Horn on a 10-durability stick will still break fast. Prioritize durable base weapons for best materials.

Extending Weapon Life

  • Lynel riding: Hitting a Lynel's back while mounted doesn't count as a durability hit — mount the Lynel after a Flurry Rush and swing freely
  • Critical cooking: The Fairy's favor (lucky cooking) can produce food that doubles next weapon's damage temporarily — not durability, but means you kill enemies faster with fewer hits
  • Elemental kills: Freezing an enemy with ice, then hitting while frozen = 3× damage. Fewer total hits needed = less durability spent

Weapon Breakage Loop

When your fused weapon breaks, the fused material is destroyed too — you need a new base weapon AND a new material. Maintain weapon stockpile:

  1. Kill Bokoblin camps for base weapons
  2. Kill Lynels for the best fuse materials
  3. Fuse at the battle site or in the field before the next major fight

Shields: Fuse Bonuses

Shields can also be fused. Best shield fuses:

  • Fused shield with Zonai Device (fan, rocket) — creates a powered shield that activates on guard
  • Large rock Fused shield — massive defense boost (+25+)
  • Bomb Flower Fused shield — explodes on parry hit — the attacker takes explosion damage
  • Spring Fused shield — crouch + jump while shielding launches Link like a slingshot — fastest vertical launch trick

Shield Surf Fuse: Fuse a cooking pot or sled to a shield for infinite-duration shield surfing on flat terrain without durability drain.

Bow Fuse (Arrow Fuse)

Bow + Arrow Fuse is separate from weapon Fuse. Key bow upgrades:

  • Lynel Bow — fires 3 arrows simultaneously (horizontal spread) — use with Bomb Flowers for wide-area explosion
  • Savage Lynel Bow — fires 3 arrows in vertical spread — use with Keese Eyeballs (3 homing shots at once)
  • Royal Guard's Bow — highest single-shot damage; use with Dragon Parts arrows for maximum range shot

Quick Tips

  • Never fuse your best materials to low-durability weapons — the material disappears when the weapon breaks
  • Gibdo Bone is farming-friendly — 20 bones per run from Gerudo Depths, easy to maintain a stockpile of 70+ attack weapons
  • Fuse doubles as utility — wood Fuse to weapons helps start fires; metal Fuse attracts lightning for puzzle use; bomb Fuse creates thrown explosive
  • Unfuse at Octorok before fusing a better material — Octorok in Eldin removes fused material (destroying the material) and also repairs weapon durability to max
  • One-handed sword + shield-ready build — Royal Sword + Gleeok Horn + Hylian Shield = best defensive-offensive balance
  • Fuse grass/wood to weapons for fire spreading — useful for clearing Dried Flower fields or triggering environmental fire chains
