Poe Farming Guide — Collecting Every Poe

Poes are blue glowing orbs found throughout the Depths — the currency for Bargainer Statues (found underground and at some surface locations). They're used to buy the Depths armor set, Autobuild schematics, and other items. This guide covers the best routes, how many you need, and what to buy first.

What Are Poes

Appearance: Small blue floating orbs, glowing, visible from 15–20 meters in the Depths darkness

Collection: Walk or run through them — auto-collected on contact. No action required.

Persistence: Poes do NOT reset on Blood Moon. Once collected, they're permanently gone from that location. You collect each Poe exactly once in a playthrough.

Total available: Hundreds across the full Depths (estimates vary — approximately 600–900 depending on how deep you explore)

Bargainer Statues

What they are: Stone statues found in the Depths and at some surface locations (Lookout Landing, stables). Exchange Poes for items.

Finding Bargainer Statues in Depths:

  • Often near Lightroots or Abandoned Mines
  • The main Lookout Landing Bargainer Statue is available very early (surface, no Depths required)
  • Additional Depths statues appear as you explore deeper areas

Bargainer Statue Items — Priority Order

Depths Armor Set (priority 1):

| Piece | Poe Cost | |-------|---------| | Depths Armor (chest) | 150 | | Depths Armor (legs) | 150 | | Depths Armor (head) | 150 | | Total | 450 |

Why Depths Armor: The set reduces Gloom damage taken while in the Depths. More important than any individual stat — it makes long Depths sessions sustainable.

Autobuild Schematics (priority 2):

  • Various Zonai vehicle schematics: 100–150 Poes each
  • Key ones: Combat vehicle, platform designs

Dark Clumps (priority 3):

  • 16 Poes per clump
  • Fuse material — adds 7 attack to a weapon
  • Useful for mid-game Fuse but lower priority than armor

Mystic Armor (if available from Koltin side quest):

  • Not from Bargainer directly but related currency system
  • Reduces Poe cost of Bargainer items when worn — wear it before trading

Total Poes Needed

For full armor set: 450 Poes For armor + key schematics (3): 750–900 Poes For everything available: 1,000–1,500 Poes (estimate — depends on how many statues you find)

Realistic target: 500–600 Poes for practical completion (armor + priority schematics).

Best Poe Farming Routes

Route 1 — Central Depths (Early Game)

Starting point: Hyrule Castle Depths area (drop from Hyrule Castle chasm)

Route:

  1. Drop into Hyrule Castle Depths chasm
  2. Navigate toward the nearest Lightroot → activate
  3. Follow the Poe clusters between Lightroots (they're densest along natural path corridors)
  4. Collect all Poes within 200 meters of the Lightroot chain
  5. Return via fast travel

Poe yield: 30–50 Poes per run (early game, limited Lightroots activated)

Route 2 — Akkala Depths

Access: Drop into Akkala region chasms

Why Akkala: Multiple Lightroots in relatively close proximity → fast travel between them → dense Poe clusters in the corridors between

Route:

  1. Drop into Akkala Depths chasm (near Skull Lake)
  2. Navigate east → activate each Lightroot
  3. Collect all Poes in corridors between Lightroots
  4. Continue southeast → next Lightroot chain

Poe yield: 50–80 Poes per full Akkala Depths run

Route 3 — Full Depths Sweep (Mid-to-Late Game)

Once you have 10+ Lightroots activated (fast travel network established):

  1. Fast travel to a Lightroot with unexplored neighbors
  2. Navigate to next Lightroot → collect all Poes along the path
  3. Fast travel to another Lightroot cluster
  4. Repeat until session depletes stamina/Sundelion supply

Poe yield: 150–200+ Poes per 30-minute session

Tips for Efficient Poe Collection

Light the Path First

Activate Lightroots before collecting Poes. Moving through dark corridors to collect Poes is dangerous (Gloom Hands, poor visibility). Lighting the area first makes collection safe and efficient.

Brightbloom Seed Sweeping

Throw Giant Brightbloom Seeds into dark areas → illuminate → see all Poes in the area before moving through. Collect them visually before running into Gloom Hand trigger zones.

Map Coverage = Poe Coverage

Unexplored Depths areas = uncollected Poes. Systematically activating Lightroots across the full map eventually puts every Poe within reach. The Depths map mirrors the surface — navigate by surface region to identify unexplored Depths sections.

Poes Near Abandoned Mines

Abandoned Mines in the Depths (the ruin structures near major resource veins) have dense Poe clusters nearby. Each Abandoned Mine region has 10–20 Poes within 150 meters.

Mystic Armor Cost Reduction

Mystic Armor (from Koltin): Wearing the full Mystic Armor set reduces Poe costs at Bargainer Statues.

How much: Approximately 20–30% reduction per piece (full set = significant savings)

When to use: Equip the Mystic Armor before any Bargainer Statue transaction to save Poes.

Quick Tips

  • Depths Armor before everything else — 450 Poes for the Depths Armor set is the best Poe investment in the game. It makes all subsequent Depths farming sessions safer and easier.
  • Poes are permanent — no rush — unlike enemy drops, Poes don't reset. Collect at your own pace. Don't stress the count until you approach a major purchase threshold.
  • Activate Lightroots = unlock Poe access — you can't safely collect Poes in the dark. Every Lightroot activation makes a new corridor safe for collection. Prioritize Lightroot activation, Poe collection follows naturally.
  • Wear Mystic Armor before big purchases — if you plan to buy the full armor set + schematics in one session, equip your full Mystic Armor before visiting the Bargainer Statue. The savings add up.
  • Poes near the path between Lightroots — the highest Poe density is always along the natural navigation path between two nearby Lightroots. These corridors were designed as rewards for connecting your Lightroot network.
