Otakih Lightroot (anagram of Kihtao Shrine) stands on a stone promontory above the Lanayru Subterranean Lake — the largest body of standing water in the entire underground. The lake's surface is completely black, absorbing all lightroot glow without reflection, and its depth is unmapped; sonar measurements attempted by Zora researchers return inconsistent results suggesting a non-uniform bottom topology. Gloom seeps up from the lake floor in slow cold columns that break the surface as dark upwellings — diving into the lake while these are active deals rapid Gloom damage that bypasses Depths armor. Diving is viable only in the 15-20 second window between column cycles. Underwater: Luminous Stone deposits cluster in distinct mounds on the visible lake shelf (0-8 meter depth), and rare electric Lizalfos variants adapted to total darkness attack without warning. The lake edge is patrolled by 4-5 Like Likes drawn to the mineral-rich shoreline — dangerous for unprepared players due to shield/weapon consumption. A Zora researcher's abandoned survey camp on the promontory has note fragments describing the lake's Gloom column behavior and a theory that the lake connects to an entirely separate underground water system deeper than any known Depths level.
