Tawhal Lightroot
About This Lightroot
Far north in the Hebra Depths directly beneath the Rito homeland approaches, Tawhal sits in a cavern shaped by thousands of years of glacial meltwater forcing its way through limestone. The resulting formation is a textbook karst cave system — stalactites of pure white calcite hang in dense curtains from a domed ceiling twelve meters overhead, each deposited drop by drop over geological time. Tawhal's glow turns this calcite environment into a cathedral of soft reflected light, warm amber bouncing off cool white formations to produce an effect unlike any other lightroot chamber in the Depths. Rito elders tell stories of a hidden sanctuary beneath their ancestral lands — Tawhal's cavern fits those descriptions precisely. A carved alcove in the deepest chamber, clearly shaped by intelligent hands, holds a Rito-script inscription requesting safe passage for travelers. The inscription is recent enough to be legible. The moisture dripping from every surface makes footing treacherous; stamina management is critical. Occasional Aerocuda have found the ceiling vents and nest in the upper stalactite clusters, defensive when approached.
