About This Lightroot

Uotokuij Lightroot (anagram of Jiukotou Shrine) occupies a temperature-boundary cavern in the eastern Eldin Depths where volcanic basalt tunnels meet cooler sedimentary limestone from the adjacent Akkala geology. The temperature differential across the lightroot's chamber is measurable: standing on the western side without Flamebreaker gear deals minor fire damage; the eastern side is at normal Depths temperature. Where the hot and cold air masses meet, a persistent mist hangs at mid-height, reducing visibility to roughly 15 meters. The mist is mineral-laden — tiny Topaz and Sapphire crystals precipitate out of the saturated air and collect on flat surfaces as a fine sparkling dust. Over time, these deposits aggregate into harvestable clusters along the boundary line where temperature equalizes. Rare ingredient: Warm Safflina grows in the boundary mist zone where surface-like temperature cycling makes it viable underground — one of very few locations with surface plant growth below ground. A 14-Poe cluster occupies the mist zone, spread across the full width of the boundary. Mining tunnel network to the north extends 200 meters and contains regular Zonaite veins.
